    What year is it?

    Though we had a good timeline going for a while, post 2.0 it has gotten a bit sketchy on when things have occurred. Does anyone know what year it is? I thought that with the release of Heavensward, that there might be mention of it somewhere. However, I haven't found anything and I was wondering if any of you knew!

    From what I remember, the events between 2.5 and 3.0 were only a matter of weeks. As far as the exact year, I don't think Fern has touched upon that yet. Time is tricky in MMOs because each quest has it's own timeline, as well as each player. Sometimes they overlap to a point where continuity doesn't necessarily make sense. Until we have an official word on exactly what year the events of 3.0 began, it's hard to determine how long the 2.0 story went on for.

    As of this point in time, the established rule is that, as far as the game is concerned, it will always be 5 Seventh Umbral Era also known as 1 Seventh Astral Era in the basic open world. Units of time may pass, but the calendar doesn't move. Even if as of 4.0 you could prove 365 days went by, they still probably wouldn't change the fact that we straddle those two datelines in a one year bubble.

    It’s still a bubble; you have to have a bubble. There are players joining in Heavensward that are starting at the beginning. The bubble’s just gotten bigger.

    7AE 1 is the easiest to go by, considering the calendar resets to that no matter what year you figure you personally were at in 6UE before the end of ARR.
