As for the 27%, it's pretty simple. As far as I know, everything in this game is linear. That means, STR, damage, and enmity scale at the exact same rate. If we increase STR by 27%, damage and enmity are also increased by 27% (all three are connected).

So...I have 950 total STR outside of party. This includes full STR accessories and 35 bonus points into STR. My accessories total 203 STR.
950-203=747 <----This would be my STR if I used all VIT accessories.
(203/747)x100%=27.17% So by going full STR accessories, I gain 27.17% damage and enmity over going full VIT accessories.

Which only means you will need it if you need to use flash frequently.
I never was in a position where I needed more then flash as every 4th skill (and this only to gain TP). And yep I am full VIT.

Actually, it means you will not need to flash as often since flash will "hit harder." 5 Flashes (full VIT) = 3.93 Flashes (full STR) (so 4 Flashes + a little extra)

It's cool if you guys like the meat wall fantasy but too much vit is not only excessive, it also hurts your aggro gen. Dps shouldn't have to throttle dps just so you can keep your training wheels on.

I'm not saying everyone has to load up on pure str or pure melded, but pure vit is the worst kind of overkill.

Pure vit is not overkill, there are cases where pure vit > mixed vit / str or pure str. I am not saying tanking everything in full vit is ok but making statements such as pure vit is overkill is simply stupid. I would for example take pure vit for solo tanking faust or solo tanking ravana (without turning it to raid) any time and I have never lost aggro in these two cases with vit build and I think I could count over 100 cases where I dropped below 2k, meaning I would die. So stop advocating this bs and go play proper dps class if you want to dps so badly and leave tanking to people who actually want to do their job properly to increase chances for their group to clear it to maximum.

The only place STR accessories are actually a thing is raids. If you choose to use VIT in whatever other content you're doing, it really doesn't matter. You'd have to be extremely picky to care that your tank is full VIT in a 4man dungeon, for example.

If you can afford pentamelds, those are pretty universal in and out of raids, but they're also heavily not worth the gil if you're not raiding at all.

As a healer, I do despise full STR tank and almost don't want to heal them...
I do agree that you must have same STR for aggro

so a mix VIT/STR is ok (as long as you have more than 16 500 HP for any tank and no stance)
the perfect case is melded accessories VIT & STR

otherwise I love full VIT tank (especially WAR and PAL with their new Divine Veil)

There is little reason to take all VIT.

The VIT stat is important for handling tank-busters (plus the follow-up atk(s)), but after the threshold is met, it stops being that significant. Almost all the remaining incoming dmg needs handled by the ehp per second, not the maximum HP.

You shouldn't really be expecting tanks to use what you want unless you are in a premade or static. Even then what works for some may not work for others.
