Thread Title: ffxivconfig.exe crashes when changing graphic setting

Details:
Since I first installed the game (10-4-2011), I have been unable to make changes to my graphics preferences using ffxivconfig.exe. Every time I attempt to save changes, the program crashes. There are no problems with the game itself, but I cannot change the graphic settings.

Steps:

Run ffxivconfig.exe from Start Menu
Change language to "English"
Click "General" button
Click "Video Setting" Tab
Make any changes at all
Click "OK" button
Error Message pops up:

Specific number [1580] changes depending on what changes were requested in the system.

Okay, I did some research on the Windows forums and found that the error message in particular occurs when the program crashes and I do not have access to make changes to the program.

The error message aside, the game is crashing whenever I try to change the ffxivconfig.exe settings.

More importantly, as of 10-9-2011, the game is also crashing at various points during gameplay. There does not seem to be any consistency in why or how these crashes occur; although it has on one occasion caused my computer to have a serious error and forced it to restart.

Any advice or insights in to this problem would be appreciated. Thanks.

This means you probably don't have admin by default. right click on the app and click run as administrator.

This problem can be caused by using Windows System Fonts within the FFXIV Config tool. What you will want to do first, before making any other changes, is load up the FFXIV Config tool, click on the ‘General’ button, then the ‘Font Settings’ tab, and make sure that ‘Use Windows system font’ is unchecked.
