    FF14 Heavensward Gathering Guide by Caimie Tsukino

    Dear all,

    Previously, I have had much trouble locating a comprehensive guide that would teach me how to play the Miner/Botanist end-game in Heavensward. So after I learned and tested much of things myself, I created my own guide for it. Please enjoy! And please let me know if anything needs to be corrected.

    I was wondering if you would make a guide. Reading it now, I'll let you know if theres anything that could be added.

    ~~
    For folklore nodes:
    It's worth specifically mentioning that Unearth/Field Mastery won't be enough to give 100% chance to hit. (approx 830~( rough estimate) gathering would be needed for that) However, with some lucky -GP procs it's not to hard to use version II instead. (only requires a -50 proc)
    Pretty minor point tho, as it's already in the guide. (just not specifically said)

    Really a wonderful guide as usual, its quite complete.
    (also love phrasings like "legitimately-ridiculously-high-priced", my thoughts exactly~)

    There's a second Impulsive rotation that's been circulating in the forums which I like a bit better than the one in your guide. It goes something like this:

    Hit to reveal
    UC
    SM
    Impulsive
    UC
    Impulsive (if last Impulsive got a DE proc, use Methodical instead)
    Impulsive (if the previous appraisal was Impulsive and it got a proc, use Methodical instead)
    DE if no Impulsive procs, else SM
    Methodical
    Collect x2 or x3

    The tradeoff is that this rotation sacrifices the possibility of getting four items in exchange for being more likely to get three. The 2xImp rotation has a 9% chance of 4 items and a 49% chance of two, whereas the above rotation has a 65.7% chance of getting three items. That works out to a marginally higher average number of items per node. Also, if you get the Impulsive proc early enough, you can use Methodical and push the rarity just a little higher - with a proc on the first hit you can clear 500 rarity and get an extra scrip. Not a big difference, but you might mange to need one or two fewer items to cap for the week if you get it often enough.

    Thank you all for the feedbacks!
    @Aeyis: I will clarify that better in the text.
    @PirateCat: That is indeed a good rotation. I tested it once today. It gave higher rarity than the Standard Impuls Rotation, which is great! But I got only 2 collects even after getting one proc. I wonder if I made a mistake. I'll study it more closely later today. Then I will add that into the guide.
    Thanks again!

    I found what the problem was, and fixed the way I did it. I have also re-arranged the skills slightly different from yours, so that it's more easily understood and remembered by me.

    I have included this in the guide now. Thanks for your input, PirateCat!

    As a Crafter that has been afraid to get into Gathering (I have them all 60 but I haven't gotten any of my books yet ;--; ) your guide is amazing! It helps make it seem less intimidating for a new / non-DOL main. This is really really appreciated <3 Book marked and liked!

    THANK YOU!

    Thanks for your guides, Caimie!

    Just add, relative to what you call the Complex Impulsive Rotation, that, if you take into account that the gathers are usually not at 100% chance, but 95% (in my case), the final chances of succeeding change a bit, and probably this rotation's advantage is a bit bigger compared to the 2 impulsive rotation. Getting a bit more collectability many times also adds.

    If you are lucky with the initial rotation, and you get 4 gathers, the probabilities of succeeding the 4 with 95% are 81,45%. You might be unlucky and get not 3 but 2 or 1 or 0. So you don't get a 9% of 4 gathers but 9% of 4 tries with a 81,45% 4 successes (7,3305%).

    Probabilities of getting 3 successes in a 3 try: 85,74%. (Rest might be 2 or even 1 or 0) They get worse but less worse than the 4 tries.
    Probabilities of getting 2 successes in a 2 try: 90,255. (Rest might be 1 or even 0)

    Alternatively, you can use food and melds to reach 650 GP and just use the 5% Gathering ability before starting your Collectability routine.

    That 95% Gathering seems to miss way too frequently for my taste. That's why I went through the trouble of getting 29 additional GP on my gear and finding a 21 GP food.

    @Nagoto:
    Thanks for your support!

    @Roth_Trailfinder:
    I can't agree more.

    @JonBigwood:
    Thanks for the statistics! Well, I have an entire "tiny" chapter (Ch6) just to remind people about the advantage of 650 GP. I always use that extra 50 GP to make my red scrip gathers 100% secure (unless I run out of time before GP fills up). So % is not really an issue. Apart from the really cheap Antelope Stew, NQ Stuffed Chysahl can also be used. They add 30 GP, and they are not too expensive on the MB. So you can even get away with 620 GP, which is very, very easy to achieve. Although, in the long run, Antelope Stew will be much more economical.

    For other cheap ARR foods, I have listed in Ch7 of my old ARR unspoiled gathering guide (http://ffxivrealm.com/guides/ff14-un...ie-tsukino.53/).

    I have been using this rotation (with slightly different replacement of SM & UC but it doesn’t matter) since they fixed the double DE from a single Impulsive (cry)
    Its actually possible to get 3x 530+ rarity if you keep gambling on Impulsive up to the 3rd attempts even you got a proc early on, with the trade off of guaranteed 3x 497+ rarity

    Assume you have reached the appraisal cap

    1) Impulsive (proc ) 103 -> Impulsive (proc) 155 -> Methodical 172 -> Methodical 115 (total 545)
    (you may use Impulsive in your 3rd attemps (possible to reach 585 ) but there is no point)

    2) Impulsive (proc ) 103 -> Impulsive (no proc) 155 -> Impulsive (proc) 103 -> Methodical 172 (total 533)

    3) Impulsive (no proc ) 103 -> Impulsive (proc) 155 -> Impulsive ( proc ) 103 -> Methodical 172 (total 533)
