FF14 Advanced Crafting Guide (Part 3 Heavensward) by Caimie Tsukino

    Dear all,

Seeing that much positive feedback was given to my first crafting guide, I have recently created a new guide for crafting in Heavensward to help our fellow crafters. Just like my previous guides, I tried my best to be as comprehensive as possible. Please feel free to comment or correct any mistakes I have there. Thank you very much!

Long read. But very good guide, it covers most any question one might come up with for crafting. Hats off Caimie you did a good job!

One thing I didn't see your guide go over is what players who didn't reach 50 until after heavenward do for gear, most 50-60 guides on DOH/DOL seam to assume the reader has a set of expensive lvl 50 gear but as some one who only joined the game after heavenward came out stoping at 50 to heavily gear up doesn't make to much sense. I currently only have 304 cp due to only using the more affordable lvl ~47 jewelry so your suggested rotation for leveling isn't applicable. Your advice for gearing my left side also was complexly inaccurate as even the lvl 51 gear was a noticeable increase in quality of the white sub 50 gear I was using. As time goes on the likelihood of the person using your guid not having good lvl 50 gear will increase so it might be useful to take that into account.

It'll be kind of hard first, but I did it in this priority : MH, OH, Armors (Body, Legs), 1 or 2 Accesories, rest of the armors, or you can switch around depending which classes you got to 50 first. Doing all those equipment crafts (including mats) got my classes to 51-52 (52 at my WVR and LTW). Once you can craft Baked Onion Soup (preferably HQ), always pop them before you do craft. I skipped the rest of equipments straight to HWS gear because when I reached 52, it's much faster to craft the HWS gear than do the upgraded 50 gear.

Or, you can ask another crafter to craft them for you and then just grind at 1-star mats (Darksteel Ingot, Rose Gold Ingot, Hyppogriff Leather, etc).

And thank you very much for your guides Caimie. Those helped to answer most of my question about crafting when I was nearing lvl 50.

Thank you very much for your input! Indeed, I admit the guide does not seem to cater fresh 50s who does not have BiS yet. I will definitely work on that part. It looks like you're currently using the white "Patrician gear set", and you do not own any i55 class-specific AF gear at all. Well, my advice in the guide on gearing the left side didn't actually exist for someone with Patrician gear. It kind of assumed the person was either wearing a penta-melded lvl 50 Artisan Apron (i60), or wearing lvl 51 (i65 archaeonis) / lvl 53 (i80 holy rainbow) / lvl 55 (i100 ramie) gear made by themselves along the way. It's a big jump there, and I should document that part a bit better. The transition between Patrician set to lvl 51 Archaeonis set is a big gap. i55 AF gear or Artisan apron would nicely bridge the gap. But if you don't own these things, it might not worth your money. i55 is class specific, so you'll need 8 sets of these. Artisan Apron is an extravagant 4 star item from ARR, which you obviously won't have the stats to make it. If you have time, I'd recommend you take a quick look into Part 2 of my guide, where you will see how the old school crafters in ARR proceed from Patrician's gear. But don't follow it. I will write up a few pages about how to bridge this transition without overspending. I will also include some rotations for you guys who don't actually have that much CP. Although, you definitely should try to acquire the Aetheryte Rings and Militia Wristlets. These accessories are totally worth their cost. Anyway, I'll document everything for you in a brand new chapter in the guide to cater people like you who need help with the big gap between Patrican and lvl 51 gear. Again, thanks for your input!

Thanks for your support! I definitely can do better with the guide to help the fresh 50s. I'll create some extra chapters soon.

I was able to get from 50-51 in my classes grinding sub 50 crafts like cobalt ingots or beef stew, after that I made myself a lvl 51 left side set, but as the current progression system lacks a series of stepping stone right side gear I made do with what I had. Also the lvl 53 class quest are extremely useful as you get a piece of lvl 53 gear and your off hand, then at lvl 55 you can buy a full left side set from a vendor. I also found the brand of elements skills extremely useful for making items above my level like some of the lvl 51 gear needed.

This is a great guide that somehow manages to be rather depressing.

The sheer number hoops involved is.. insane. The RNG, timed elements, time invested, collection system, specialist actions, red crafting scrips, red gathering scrips, materia (over)melds. Respect to any crafters willing and able to navigate it all.

I don't need this guide but I still gave it a read for the tremendous work it must have been. I'm seriously impressed you by the sheer amount of useful tips you included in it.

Thank you and keep up the good work, Caimie!
