Please can we have more info on EU Datacenter migration

Well, maybe not fine servers connectivity.

If they're going for cost and efficiency, they'll probably go for Germany which has fair datacenters.

Considering the speculation I have a hunch now itll be Germany. London is too expensive (and will get up to 20% more so over the next few years because of enforced wage rises). Even UK outside of London would get too expensive.
Germany on the other hand have many large companies able to offer the infrastructure at lower cost because of competition and readily available resources. The ping will better suit everyone too.
Still, cant always take the logical approach in guessing what SE plans are... could end up Russia :P

Friends from another game said timezones weren't realllly a problem and data center was in NA anyway. Turns out timezones were a big killer when I hit end game (I have a 9-5 job and euro DF is miserable for my evening), so I'm personally hoping for some sort of transfer deal. My schedule doesn't overlap enough with friends in the FC to make up for DF issues.

Im in the same boat as you - tho other way round. It wasnt until Coil Savage that having a static became necessary so I never switched from the NA world myseld and husband got lumped with during Early Access of 2.0. I did recently try to create a new character on Cerberus but its hard to leave behind all that hard work and dedication considering I'd also levelled up DoL and some DoH too. Buying gear for endgame gathering is impossible for new players. Midgardsormr has been friendly toward EU players playing on their server but once EU migrates I feel they wont bother making adjustments to run content at earlier times.

I wish I lived in that London. A pay rise leading to that much of an increase over the next few years would be awesome. Now, property price increase causing that much of a jump I would agree with, salary increase, nope.

On topic, I would expect we'll hear something with the next live letter, which I guess will be in about 2 weeks or so. My money is on a mid-October shut down though, open in time again for a Halloween event.

When 2.0 came out servers were all in the same Duty Finder. I chose a NA server even while being in France since it was the only only only one available to create a character. A few month later, Duty Finder had been split in 2 groups. At that time entering DF was easy whatever the time. Then they decided to split servers in groups and regroup EU servers. My server (Faerie) had no access anymore to EU players and entering DF was nearly impossible, with 30min+ queue as Tank for roulette (yeah...).

It was their only decision to do this, they never ever talked about this, and it was only because they couldn't manage to code a Duty Finder efficient enough to have all players on the same. The number of players was crashing Duty Finder tool, or letting people in endless wait.

I humbly asked Square to provide us a free migration to EU datacenter, whatever server they wanted, and they told us there would be no such commercial gesture even regarding the circumstances. We had a medium house, I had nearly 10 million gils, but no, we had to manage this ourselves and all pay the migration fee. I ended up selling the whole FC + built house for 2.5 millions (yes, they made a great deal if we look at it now :P) and split the money between each member coming along since you can't move with more than 1 million on yourself and 100k on each retainer.

Don't have high hopes for a favour and free migration. Although I hope for you they'll provide this kind of special service.

Back when I was in Balmung, I had 10 mins max as a dps in duty finder, with French play hours. Only reason I migrated was because there was close to no PF so I couldn't do harder content reliably...

I started playing during open beta for 2.0, and I am fairly certain that the servers were marked as (EU) back then.
So you made a sentient choice to ignore the suggestion of the devs, and then you are complaining they didn't cater to you when your choice turned out to be bad later down the road?

I got on EU server because the friend who introduced me to the game said it's better go on EU server because of the hours we play at. I will just need to find what to do during those days of downtime.... maybe finally finish other games.

I am also interested where the datacenters will be positioned ._.
