    Unable to complete version check

I had this game running on my laptop months ago before HW but now it's not working

I looked around here for some posts saying to reboot, modify FFXIV_BOOT.cfg and neither of those worked, so I uninstalled, rebooted again and DLed the setup from the website. But now I'm still getting the above error, does anybody know a fix for this?

This is a nasty one. Got it once and I'm still not sure what fixed it. Just tried everything in those googleable posts, more than once, only started working again when I stepped away for 30 minutes and came back.

Do try the "right click > run as administrator" one though, that's easy enough.

Yeah I've run as admin a few times and it hasn't ever worked. It's a pain in the ass; I used to get it on my desktop but it would work just fine after closing the launcher and trying again.

    Welp
Uninstalled again, turned off my PC. Got up and did something else for a bit and came back, tried again, worked.

    I guess that's a pretty magical solution.
