I never said I shared the sentiment others have. I was just speaking in general.

Yeah, limit your audience which means less players and sales.

Why aren't you director and producer of FFXIV?

To be fair, the PS3 is laughably out of date and FF14 released for it on the heels of the PS4's release. Several things that could have made the game smoother for everyone was held back because "PS3 limitations". Square only released the game on the PS3 to fufill a promise, but I feel like they bit off more than they could chew and should have just pushed for PS4 only.

It's not an issue of memory... The world "Shadow of the Colossus" for the PS2 was one incredibly enormous and vast area that was even larger than the largest areas in the original FFXIV. It achieved this by streaming data off the disk into memory as needed. The large areas in FFXIV we're intended to be ported over to the PS3 version of the original FFXIV. The game was released in 2010 for the PC. And though the areas themselves were enormous, there wasn't much variety in the use of textures or design. It looked like one endless uninteresting landscape. No doubt the decision to recycle textures was to keep the size down. In fact I bet the size of the areas created for 2.0 used up as much memory as the ones in 1.0.

PS3 is out of date, sure. But the PS4 isn't. So saying it shouldn't have been developed for consoles is an incredibly ignorant statement, considering PS4 likely runs it better than the average PC.

I agree the only reason why the PS3 version happened is because it was another remnant of 1.0, and they wanted to uphold their promise of porting the game to that system. (1.0 on PS3 is a scary thought.) But they have already acknowledged the system limitations, gave free upgrades to PS4 for over a year and its most likely on track to be phased out in 4.0.

I said it felt like it, not that it was. It felt like a dense forest with a lot of trees and now it feels like a field with a few big trees here and there

Doesn't anyone remember having to search for the Aether Currents in the Heavensward? That required players to explore the the new massive areas on foot, with just a vague comment on direction and distance to guide you. Most people I talked too found it annoying. But is that what you want?

In 1.0, I think most of time was spent in Ul'dah trying to find a party via /shouts... It was incredibly difficult to do any exploring do to the level 60 monsters roaming the narrow caverns and passageways that needed to be traversed to reach parts of the map. The only way to avoid detection was to put it in walk mode and walk behind the monster, praying it wouldn't turn and see you. It usually did, and that meant instant death.
