They should never have developed it for consoles period, but money talks.
PS3 support is supposed to be ending Soon™ at least, so please look forward to it™.
PS4 runs the game just as well as if not better than the average user's computer. It's PS3 that holds us back. So hush with the nonsense.
Also, you used a Blizzard and a Square Enix trademark in the same sentence.
Someone will be angry!

Why? What's wrong with having FFXIV for PS4? Why should PC be the only system that gets to enjoy MMO's when consoles like the PS4 can handle them very well also.
To be fair, the PS3 is laughably out of date and FF14 released for it on the heels of the PS4's release. Several things that could have made the game smoother for everyone was held back because "PS3 limitations". Square only released the game on the PS3 to fufill a promise, but I feel like they bit off more than they could chew and should have just pushed for PS4 only.
PS3 is out of date, sure. But the PS4 isn't. So saying it shouldn't have been developed for consoles is an incredibly ignorant statement, considering PS4 likely runs it better than the average PC.To be fair, the PS3 is laughably out of date and FF14 released for it on the heels of the PS4's release. I agree the only reason why the PS3 version happened is because it was another remnant of 1.0, and they wanted to uphold their promise of porting the game to that system. (1.0 on PS3 is a scary thought.) But they have already acknowledged the system limitations, gave free upgrades to PS4 for over a year and its most likely on track to be phased out in 4.0.
