For what reason? You can't buy gear with Esoterics for other classes other than your main, because you are locked from it, unless you want to just use it just for the novelty, but unlike FFXI that adopted this system, say that at this point, you regret gearing a DPS class, and would like to play a Healer class and raid with a healer class, you screwed up, because no one will want to grab an undergeared healer, in contrast there wasn't such limitant in FFXI, and if your group needed a bard, you could switch to bard if you had it, or healer, or dps, tank, whatever it was needed, as long as you had it leveled it up and decently it was good to go for everything, that's not the case here, this is another issue I have with the game and the pointless armory system, that all it saves you is creating another character and not redoing the story or other stuff, but you might aswell just level another character because the game is punishing if you want to play another class, as it forcibly locks you into one in especific.

I honestly get confused when people complain about grinding in MMOs because that is what the genre itself is built on-- grinding, whether it be for levels, gear, gold, reputation, or what have you. Compared to a lot of earlier MMOs, FFXIV is not grindy at all, and it certainly offers you a larger variety of ways in which to grind than just killing the same mob over and over.

If you don't enjoy grinding of some sort, then MMOs probably aren't the game genre for you, as you aren't going to find an MMO out there that doesn't eventually boil down to "grind stuff to get things."

For what it's worth, I enjoy grinding, but I enjoy it more when the grind is made to feel more interesting or worthwhile. I think FFXIV is getting there with it for sure, but still that it has some things that could be better.

Answer to OP: Nothing. It is the same cookie cutter stuff. No variety of content

I see this discussion in lot of FB groups, gamefaqs, other forums, etc. It's not just a vocal minority methinks...

People quit in 2.0 for the exact same reasons people are complaining about now. Log in, cap tomes, raid, log out. The biggest problem is that they split the entire expansion up into parts, so we're not getting the whole expansion in one go - we're getting part 1 of 5 (assuming it'll work the same way as 2.0). This is really, really bad for any players that are actually playing now because we have such a limited amount of things to do. They expect us to use this patch to grind and that's it - grind endlessly and eventually you'll come upon 3.1, which will probably be another grind. Eventually, you accumulate enough content to actually log in daily and have fun, but what's the point in subbing at all for 3.0 once you've completed the main story? To grind for gear that will quickly be outdated in the next 2 patches? Is running the same 2 dungeons every single day fun, genuinely?

The only reason I remain subbed is because I raid with friends and we have a good time. Not because the raid is fun, but because it's something to do while we spend time together. If it weren't for that and my friends played other MMOs, I wouldn't be back here until 3.5 where I actually have a plethora of things to do. This is the case for most people who quit XIV and moved to WoW, Tera, etc. It's something no one who's still subbed to this game wants to accept, but it's the reality of things.

Can't find the post, but I was actually mentioning this back before HW release, how we'd only get a part of it, not the whole thing, and you should have seen the amount of people throwing fits and raging at me(someone even reported me for "being offensive" lol), because those people were like, "We're getting a ton of content when HW releases, not just parts". What did we get? Parts. Feels more like 1/2 of a part though, since only 2 dungeons and alex, the ex primals are kind of obsolete now and it hasn't even been another update.

This is one of the reasons why EQ's AA (Alternate Advancement) system was so loved by their players. It gave them numerous other options to improve their toons beyond just getting the current top end gear. It is a feature I have often wondered why is not included in newer MMOs.

Excuse me? I was under the impression normal Alexander came first and Savage followed. Seems to me they could simply have created completely different bosses for the Savage mode to avoid this griping.

And to all of you griping about grinding out all the class/jobs. You would have had tons less of it if you hadn't tried doing it all on just one character, although for crafting it may be better to have them on just one. Not into that so idk.

i can see what you are talking about but honestly, the repetition of 2.0 is not a problem for me, as you can see i am playing the game since 2011 and i am loving it, so many things i need to do, and explore. starting from lore and the story which are the best from any mmo i played last 15 years, to the small things like triple triad and chocobo racing, to leveling my own choco and crafting. i don't know i am loving the game still, but i do agree that i want something different and new in 4.0 added to already good formula

    Well lets see.

    Locked extreme's to PF
    New lands
    three jobs
    level cap
    New hunts
    Alexander]
    Knights of the round
I am not counting tomes because armor and that should not be part of a expansion, can't play the game without it.

    and Future updates.

All finished with in a week or two to a person who just rushes content.

Should take breaks wait for new stuff to be added if you don't have much to do.
