So no, increasing dps slots wont be an improvement, and will be a detriment instead.
Wow, this is absolute nonsense, congrats. The ratio has been consistent since release, they've implemented measure upon measure to increase tank ratio but it just won't budge.

Long story short for 2 years despite their best efforts to shift the scales, the population ratio has held, so YES assuming that the ratio will hold and not shift because "lol i said so" is the better assumption.

So yeah, no. You can't just conjure up some unlikely trend that you think the overall population will follow and use it as fact to disprove basic math.

Even IF (and it's a big if) tanks and healers shed their % to 15% each (nope), and thus dps made for 70% of the queue population - the ratio of df-expected/real share of the dps population would still be HIGHER(ie: queue would still be faster). So unless you're arguing for some absurdity where half the tank and healer population decide to go dps because it's been their closet dream, it's just not true.

Anyway this would be a good idea, dps queues are just horrible, and it would make 100000000% sense to reduce the queue times as having 1 more player won't change the experience in anyway. And many people who try this game just get turned off by the horrid queues, specially during leveling.

if they increased the amount of dps slots per run they would have to compensate by adding more mobs so as to prevent face rolling the trash. i personally would not want to tank/ heal with this compensation. sure we can over pull now, but an implementation like this would prevent this, dragging dungeons on forever. add a few dps who refuse to use skills like straight shot, heavy thrust or spam umbral spells (i've run into countless lazy, begging to be carried dps). now the stronger mobs, with smaller pulls are taking forever to die. i can only speak for myself when i say there'd be 1 less tank in DF. get my new content clears then cap tomes in pvp

This is all easily adjustable, the pulls don't have to be harder, it could be as simple as scaling hp up according to the party dps increase and nothing more as far as trash goes..

and how do you measure this scaling accordingly considering you have superb players and less than mediocre players both using the DF? the superb players filling the dps roles will make noticeably little change or make it face roll content. but you get 3 less than adequate dps or people who dont care to try and it can get strenuous on the healer due to longer duration encounters or detrimental on tank tp as they compensate where the dps lack with lack of regenerative skills to replenish their pool.
to elaborate on the healer part. ive done runs as whm where its no sweat, maybe presence of mind or whatever. but when the dps are slacking, and my buffs run out and everythings still alive it turns into cure 2 bombing. would only be worse with scaled hp

This really won't fix anything. You could have 102-man parties with just one DPS and one healer, and DPS queues would still suck :P

Same way they scaled the current dungeons. Presumably SE has some folk who are somewhat competent at math.

While we're at it, how about we make it where the whole server is doing the dungeon? JK, no I think 4 man dungeon is fine because as stated above, more slots for DPS will just mean more people who could be playing tank or healer, will be playing DPS instead. While load times for dungeons have gotten better, they could still be shorter sometimes and this would not help.

    not really.

The simple answer is : "people don't want pure support with 0 dps/tank/heal shiny thingies to throw". Even though I'd kill to be able to play FFT's dancer or bard, I know it's not going to happen.

Also, pratical answer is : "people are too bad nowadays to even grasp the concept of a 100% support role".

They already can't do "simple" jobs like making an enemy not move, healing, or killing stuff as fast as possible (hurr durr bards without DoTs), don't ask them to fill in critical roles that are supports, who constantly need to adapt to the situation in order to give the best buff possible at the right time.

As sad as it sounds, pure support jobs died a few years back, when MMOs started levelling down their gameplay and difficulty to match the worst players's skills.
