Silly duty roulette rant

okay i was in Halatali for my daily roulette today and, oh boy! Where do I start? XD

Okay so it was pretty obvious the party was pretty new to the game aside from myself (BLM) The tank kept getting hit by bombs and dying and the healer was still getting used to their role as healer, so was a bit slow on the draw with heals.

Over all we were making it through the dungeon pretty nicely considering. the other BLM in the group however, seemed to be of a different mind set. He/She(will go with HE since his toon was a male) would type "Bad!" "REALLY?!" "TANK BLOWS!" and so on, every time we hit a hitch. Now the tank made some mistakes but over all, he adjusted to them and pushed forward.

The BLM wasn't done though and soon started in on the healer and then after myself. He was complaining that the healer wasn't healing him enough (was standing IN THE CLUSTER OF MOBS for the majority of the trash pulls.) and he also said that I wasn't playing my job right, because I wasn't using flare. XD Mind you, that ability isn't even available to use in that dungeon. ALSO this BLM was spamming blizzard and Blizzard 2 the ENTIRE time we were in the dungeon. I don't think I saw him use a single fire. I told him both these facts and he went silent for a bit.

We got to the first boss and I was the only one in the group that bothered to address the flames heading to the middle of the room. The fight lasted a bit longer than it should have because I was wasn't trying to control those while the other DPS was spamming blizzard the whole time. I got to the point where I just got fed up and focused on just burning the boss down. Thankfully it worked with only the other BLM dying in the end. XD

He was, of course very upset that he died and blamed me for not dpsing enough and the healer for not healing enough. It was at this point that the healer left the group and then the BLM focus ALL of his aggression on me. "You are lvl 60 and should be doing WAY MORE DPS than this! I have been playing for two weeks and am WAY better that you. You are BAD and should go home and play barbie since you only care about how your character looks!" yada yada. At this point the tank had enough as well and said sorry to me and left. Of course I left after as I wasn't about to wait for other party members with this BLM.

At the end of the day everyone's time was wasted and two newer players in our community got what is likely one of the worst examples of what they will deal with regarding player etiquette in this game. XD It isn't all bad though. I was left with an amusing story. :P Not really a rant now that I think about it. XD

It is really too bad that this happens way more often than it should. Hopefully those new players are smart enough to know that not all players are like this.

I like to think this community is actually quite nice, so I think they will be fine.

I think that would have been a fine time to introduce your tank and healer to the "Vote Dismiss" feature and let that jackass enjoy his shiny new DPS queue.

I've only seen the other ppl agree to this once.

If at ANY time yo dare to stop pulling, to even suggest this, they get mad and just vote you out for not continuing to pull.

Of course as you continue to pull, the rest all drop out, because they get tired of the person who continues to be so aggravating.

Which is why I stopped playing.

You could have just asked him if he enjoys dps queue times that much. I find that quites them down fairly quickly.

lol good point! I try to give people the benefit of the doubt (usually at least until the first boss.) But there were many clear indications this wasn't going to end well before that. XD If that ever happens again I will say that for sure. lol

Generally, as much as I hate it, I'd prefer to remove the source of madness in such cases before someone who did nothing wrong leaves. Don't give such guys a chance to disgruntle players who actually try. It's too bad this one "succeeded" in that regard.

Anyway, what I've noticed recently is a rather big number of players entirely new to the game. Basically 3 out of 4 leveling roulettes had at least 1 beginning player over the past few weeks for me. This shows similarly to how it did in this case, with players still learning their how to play their class, how to use their abilities, and of course this ends more often than not with the game's harshest teaching mechanics - death and wipe. I believe it's the duty of us experienced and well-versed players to encourage them to carry on, to allow them to learn and become better, instead of starting to complain and walling up against them.

Remember everyone had been there at some point, imagine how you would have felt if people had ganged up on you like that. It's entirely useless, no it even hurts the since these new players are the life blood of an MMO. It's them who will replace the players who drop out of your FC and your static in due time, it's them who fill your PF groups. Don't give them a hard time, ultimately you only hurt yourself. Help them. Accept them. Or at least keep quiet for those 30 minutes even if they drive you nuts. That's still better than starting a riot.

That actually sounds so stupid, that I believe he was either trolling or some 13-year old kid who does not really know how to play the game and I am leaning towards the troll option. Spamming only blizzard? The fire and blizzard rotation is not hard to figure out at all. I simply cannot believe someone would be that stupid, I mean if you can't figure it out yourself the game on top of everything else tells you about it when you get the fire ability, you cannot possibly think spamming blizzard is good idea. You not using flare sounds a little more plausible if he does not know that when you level sync you also lose your abilities that come at higher level, but this still sounds pretty unbelievable to not to be a troll.

...dont be to sure about that - I've seen people in level 50 dungeons having no clue at all about their blm-rota... and they werent trolls since I was able to explain it to them and they were most grateful because they really didnt had any idea... and dont ask me how this is possible (but since we're getting plds who havent heared of flash once in their life...)
