Can we please have achievements for healers in PvP?

Hello, i've been playing pvp for a long time now and i usually end up being a healer inside due to the lack of them. One thing that bothers me is that DPS are being rewarded for getting kills in terms of the achievements and battle fever/high.

Can we get something like this for healers too? Ever since they removed cleric stance it's basically impossible to get kills on a healer, apart from the occasional last hit. Having a healer achievement would probably make people heal more as well. Right now it's just very unrewarding. It would be cool if we had some achievements like heal a total of xx hp (no overhealing) and have achievements linked to that. Or stuff like not letting people die in your party. I love pvp, but as a pvp healer it's very unsatisfying to have nothing to aim for but wins. If that doesn't work can we get something like an assistance system for kills maybe?

This! Please listen to this SE. Healers are in such a demand in PvP and there isn't even an incentive to play one because its almost impossible to get a kill as a healer. Wherein Tanks and DPS have no trouble getting Battle High/Fever.

Hmm, it's hard to think of anything other than accumulated heal. Like: "You have healed 10 bagzillion HP in frontline."

Another would be if your team suffers few/no deaths.

I agree with the OP 110% on this... healers are vital to PVP matches and are not rewarded in ways ways that other roles are, and are unappreciated by the player base in relation to their contribution. I've healed a few hundred PVP matches as SCH and have to say I'm pretty good at it; it's too bad for the Adders that I'm on 'healer strike' now.

Why? Well first I'll say I've healed for some awesome PUG teams, but I've also healed for teams where people would take off out of range and run back almost dead along with the three new friends they just made from another GC and I blow a lot of my lustrates saving them but then when I'm getting focused and I've got Attunement up and an alert to the party and its been 45 seconds of me kiting 3 melee players around and blowing the cooldowns I had left, now getting into range of me and sleeping/binding/stunning/focusing whoever's on me isn't quite as important as chasing that mounted player off into the middle of nowhere.

But I can deal with that, that's not why I'm currently on strike as a healer. It's because for every player with Battle High/Fever Up for more than 15-30 seconds, I guarantee there's a healer (maybe one who queued as a DPS even) who has them focused and is enabling them to keep doing high amounts of damage at a faster rate which is one of the most fun things that can happen for a DPS player, and keep racking up their kill count for their slaughterhouse achievement, while the healer who was just as much a part of making that happen by keeping this person with a fever bulls-eye over their head alive (and themselves with quite possibly a 1 over their head out there because of who they're healing) gets nothing, not even a damn thank you or commendation at the end of the match from either of the 2 battle highs they followed around the entire match like their personal healer. Like this DRK I kept up the other day, we won the match (not that it's the healers fault when we lose), he never died because I focus healed him and two other battle highs... all I can say is if you're reading this, I suggest you level ALC and learn to craft mega-potions because I'll be back on Summoner getting kills of my own next time you see me. Of course I'm not going to say I expect it, I just show up and do my best, but anyone healing a PVP match who's doing their job well deserves it and players should know that. If I DF into a random team and I've got a friend I already know who happens to be in the party, and a stranger who's a healer- I'm commending that stranger if they do their job. I've got my gold mount (from healing Secure mode when it came out and more people bothered) and I'm somewhere just shy of 1500 so I'm not that worried about the commendation rewards, but getting no thanks or commendations at the end of a frantic match when you've been supporting 7 other people who can't be bothered to support you back is a major letdown. And maybe I'll get one or two, and I'd be fine getting 0 if there was another healer and they got them, but sometimes I've known them from my server and we did a great job keeping everyone up and neither got any because most people just don't bother with it. I hope you DON'T commend me when I'm on DPS if there was a good healer on the team you could have given it to.

But that's totally fine, I've doubled my progress towards the 1000 kills achievement since Sieze came out now that I'm not healing all the time.

Edit- so that turned into a rant but trust me, and I don't mean to sound like a diva- there are PVP healers out there who are more skilled at it than me and who probably never complain... it's the toughest job in PVP by far and that's why many don't want to play it, and it's the only role I've been on where my own damn teammates felt they had the complete right to abuse me the whole match, like telling me I should have come prepared as a SCH who hadn't yet leveled WHM for Stoneskin (was in progtrss) when I was the only one on the team willing to heal in the first place. Vote dismissed the person who was cussing me out the whole match, it failed. Be good to your healers, or you'll just have more dps's in your queue.

And what that all has to do with this thread is- the game needs to reward healers for doing their job well, because in many cases that's the only thanks they'll get.

"Raise X number of players while in combat in a single Frontlines duty."

"Raise X number of players while in combat in Frontlines."

"Heal X different players while in combat in a single Frontlines duty."

"Successfully heal X players from under 10% health while in combat in Frontlines." (Could give a title, like, "Saving Grace" or something.)

"Heal for over X in a single Frontlines duty."

"Complete Frontlines duties without dying X times." (Aka. don't die. Not healer-specific, but healers can do it.)

The question of how to reward healers without it causing adverse results in gameplay is a tough one. I like the suggestions above, good point with in combat healing because we don't want a group of trophy hunters off by themselves to the side of their spawn point jumping off a cliff and healing themselves over and over. Also with res don't want healers casting weakness revives all through their party where people are getting up left and right having weakness thinking they got a PVP revive and are about to get topped up but OMG where's the person who raised me!? and dead again. Revive!

I think points healed in combat is a good measure, and also number of matches as a healer if they can count from the end of the two minute window when battle commences until the end so that people who heal an entire match because they queued as healer, or queued as DPS and swapped to healer, get credit but those who swapped at the very end don't. I like the idea of a brink of death type achievement as well, if a healer can restore someone from near death and keep them alive a certain amount of time.

Or how about, amount of HP healed on players with Battle High/Fever which would hopefully keep people working together properly. Overhealing wouldn't count and the threshold wouldn't be set crazy high since not all party members will have battle high, and not all the time, and when they do, someone else might need healing much much more at the time.

Raising achievements could work, but I personally think it's not a good thing to do as achievement. People might let others die on purpose just to get the achievement. Also pve raise will still grant people weakness. Divine breath really won't be up for every person to raise. The thing about running as healer in a pvp match could work, but people could also just switch to heal at the end of the match and get their points like that. Another thing that wouldn't really work. I think HP restored (not overhealing) would be a good take on getting healer achievements. Perhaps even encourage cross alliance healing. Achievements like heal x hp for members in the other teams. There's enough options for healing achievements, but yet we're only stuck with kill xx people achiements, shafting healers.

I'm not too sure how to handle achievements, since I don't even really like the Slaughterhouse set... I mean, when you see people waiting to swoop in and get the kill shot it becomes kind of irritating, it's perhaps rare, but irritating all the same. People can "steal" a kill unintentionally of course, and I have no problem with that, but when you literally see someone doing nothing and hold off until someone is at a low percentage... Not sure I want something similar playing out for Healers... I don't want them intentionally letting me get low so they can heal more, or letting me die so they can Raise me for an achievement...

Kill Assists though, that needs to be a thing... Would even "fix" the Slaughterhouse achievement IMO, just change it to X kill/assists (you were involved in the slaughter, after all)... If you are in combat with an enemy when someone else gets the kill, that is an Assist. If you are healing someone when they kill an enemy, that is an Assist. Just make one Assist equal to something like 0.5 of a Kill (or 0.25 or whatever) as far as Battle High/Fever goes. We'd see a lot more Battle High/Fever as a result, but I wouldn't call that a bad thing; Building that combo, and also shutting down an enemies combo, is perhaps one of the more enjoyable aspects of PvP I've found recently. More opportunities to do both is only a good thing, IMO.

Achievements though, I hope they just continue with similar ones to Seize... While you'd think I'd probably be annoyed at the Hounding the Rock set, since like Slaughterhouse you can "steal" that from someone, I'm not. Why? Because Hounding the Rock encourages playing properly; It encourages you to spread out in preparation for new nodes, so that you can be the first one there when a new node spawns for credit towards that achievement. Slap in Assists and have them count towards Slaughterhouse and everything is perfect IMO.
