Welp...... I Got Some SUB JOBS TO LEVEL! TO THE DUNES! (FFXI lol)
You definitely want Quelling Strikes. It may not increase your damage like Raging Strikes, but there is a different way of looking at it. When you start a boss fight or big aoe pull, using this lowers your enmity generation. Therefore, your tank is required to use less enmity generating combos and can start using DPS combos earlier. In a way, you are increasing the tank's DPS without impacting your own.

As Wolf said, you want Quelling Strikes.
If you're pumping out as much damage as you can, your opener absolutely will grab the mob's attention, even with the best of tanks. Quelling Strikes increases your damage output over the course of the first 30 seconds by about 3kdps in that it's all a gain over the 0dps a dead BLM does.

The ninja should have the blood for blood and the invigorate.
The BLM needs raging strikes. E4E and quelling strikes are both good skills, but they are not essentials.

Actually as a black mage Quelling Strikes IS needed, trust me. So very easy to rip agro from tanks and don't care how good some may think they be, haha
Quelling is vital to any good blm. If you are putting out good numbers you will take hate. Raging obviously too, will help you put out said numbers.
The other two are still good support but I would argue are not as important, are Eye for an Eye and Virus. Neither are real gamechangers, but can just make things a little easier for the healers. Bear in mind cross-classed untraited virus is weaker, so you don't want to use when the stronger version will be needed <1 min. Tends to be used more on adds than a main boss.
Lastly I think I have physick, extremely narrow usage (so weak on blm, any time you need to heal yourself outside of solo content you are nearly always wiser to just try and kill the mob faster than heal thru it). are a handful of times a boss jumps and you have literally nothing else to do so can throw out a physic.

BLM always feels strong because their primary DPS skill (Fire) is one of the first skills they learn. Melee DPS don't have complete combos until far further in. BRD and MCH are weaker because they have a lower DPS ceiling and they don't have their primary DPS tools until later on (at least for MCH; it changes a lot when you get Clean Shot + Wildfire)Well to be honest Blm to me has always been strong from the start, not feeling the same as smn but its more safe for me so i guess thats a pay off. Brd and Mch are ranged support right? so thats its own class to compare numbers to? Like is it fair to compare a DD like BLM/NIN to a BRD/MCH?

Very weak yes, but on more then one occasion healers have died so i kept the tank alive while dpsing, lolLastly I think I have physick, extremely narrow usage (so weak on blm, any time you need to heal yourself outside of solo content you are nearly always wiser to just try and kill the mob faster than heal thru it). are a handful of times a boss jumps and you have literally nothing else to do so can throw out a physic.
So still good to have for those oh crap moments
I cant really disagree with you, as I wasn't there and don't know the details, but this is very unusual. I can see it something like Sastasha NM, where frankly anyone can be any role, but for anything a bit further on, you'd generally be better to kill the adds quicker, take hate yourself and put up wall/ward, or sleep the mobs if its a low level dungeon. Like I said I don't know the details, but these are usually better than you trying to keep the tank up with heals

No it was higher level content, i think i would die rather fast if i get all the agro, lol
And the other dps was also still alive (mellee)
