Next Expansion

With the release of Heavensward a couple of months behind us, and questions of what's next floating in everyone's mind, I thought about what the next expansion could be, this is what I came up with.

As for the setting, I could come up with nowhere else than Doma. It's mentioned so many times in the game that I lost count and the newest race, the Au Ra, are from Doma. This would be able to give rise to 3 new jobs, all starting at level 30. The first class would be the Tank called "Shogun". It could be an evasive tank, that wields a naginata as their weapon. The second class would be the Healer, which would be either "Priest" or "Shrine Maiden" depending on gender, and they could use floating prayer beads or a fan. And of course, the last job would be the Samurai wielding the Katana and would be the DPS. The Primal could be Yojimbo.

These are only my ideas, but I would like to hear yours as well so please don't hesitate to post a comment with any suggestions that you have.

Or FFXIV's next expansion can take place at a high school.

Nah, I'm kidding, but I think the next expansion should take place between Doma and the Garlean Empire. The player works with the Domans to help secret rebellion groups in the Garlean Empire rise to power, and helps the groups take down the Garlean's tyrannical government through guerrilla warfare.

Well, given the fact that there is still one citystate in Eorzea still inaccessible at this time (Ala Mhigo), it's hence highly likely that will be where the next expansion will involve. I could speculate on how the story will turn out to provide the reasons for heading east to Ala Mhigo, but I won't as I'm usually way off the mark, although at the very least freeing it from Garlean control would probably play a major part of that. Once Eorzea itself is fully explored and accessible, I think that will be then when SE decides to expand the world and take us away from Eorzea to other continents like Othard.

And given that Ala Mhigo is my character's birthplace (according to her backstory that I wrote), I'm even more eager to finally see the former kingdom where Enki was born and spent the first years of her life.

Im thinking about the students of baldesion and traveling to their country or island "I don't remember if it was a island or country" and finding it under the control of the voidsents making the next update a lot more darker, not forgetting diabolos saying something after being defeated the first time.

Yeah I was tossing either Ala Mhigo or Doma around in my head. The only reason Doma won out for me was that I think it would be easier to explain 3 new jobs and the sudden appearance of the Au Ra race, but your idea sounds very cool though. I love scenarios that involve the player character starting with a small rebel force and toppling an empire. To be honest I'm just glad this post is getting replies at all lol, but to get replies that are thought out is really great.

Just in case you guys are unaware, the ending for 3.0 has already been planned, as has the premise of 4.0. In some of the live letters, Yoshi has spoken of it but no details were given, obviously. Only that the entire story for 3.0 is written and set, and they are already working, even if only a little, on 4.0's story. I don't see them changing that.. But like it has already been stated, there are other city states we have yet to venture to on this continent. Ala Mihgo, in the land of Gvr Abania, being one of them.For those unfamiliar with lore, there is also another port city north of Limsa Lominsa on the other side of the U'ghamaro Mines. And another completely secret city beneath the Churning Mists called Sharlavan. There is also a VERY vast region, north east from Gridania, easily the size of all of Abalathia and Dravania combined called The Garlean Empire, which we have heard very much about. There is also another region north of Gridania called Xelphatol, which I believe has been mentioned, even if only briefly.

My point is, they have a massive amount of content planned so its not something you should worry about much

Ah, but Yoshi himself said that he would like to hear feedback from the fans and that is exactly what this thread is for. Aren't we doing a disservice to him and ourselves if we stay quiet about it? Even if they do have content already lined up, who's to say what's mentioned on here couldn't come afterwards or even be implemented in the content being created. I can appreciate that you think you are trying to save us time, but shooting everyone down was not the point of this thread.

Hopefully the next expansion won't be more of the same old motions and content; like how Heavensward launched.

It's been said all over in other threads and discussions, but they pretty much did a small little facelift of a few things, gave us dungeons and hunts to spam at level cap, threw a couple of EX Primals at us, and then one raid with something for the "hardcores" after we've seen the "normal" version. I appreciate the staggered release due to the level cap increase, but nothing is very different from what we've been getting spoonfed every so often with 2.0 patches.

Uh, that is not another city state but is simply an error on the Eorzea map - that is Sharlayan, specifically, the Sharlayan colony that was abandoned which is located in the Dravanian Hinterlands (which you go to during HW's later story). Presumably the artist who made the map back during 1.0's original development didn't have very strong English-language skills, so it's just an example of Engrish rendered in Eorzean script.

So basically there are just six citystates in Eorzea - Gridania, Limsa Lominsa, Ul'dah, Ishgard, Ala Mhigo and the Sharlayan colony, and all are listed and accounted for on the map and in the game's lore.
