^This. Sadly I can only give one like for this post. ; ;
Although I would not have complained if we had gotten Aeris's dress, bolero jacket, bangles and boots for female characters instead of Cloud's stupid AC outfit, but that's another story.
Agreed. The sheath on the back is hideous and clips everything. The strife vest looks great from the front and I would definitely use it for glamour but I am mostly looking at my character from the back meaning I would have to look at that stupid sheath the entire time. Maybe thats SEs plan. Make it so not many people want to wear it so that half the server isnt wearing it. I know its stopping me from wearing it.
And there are alot of people that dislike it. This topic has popped up every time a new group of players gets it. Starting with the people that got it right away by paying 6 months ahead. Then the 3 months people and now everyone who has subbed since the start of ARR should have it.
But this is the first time I can remember anyone actually defending it and calling it "iconic" even though it has appeared far more times without the dumb sheath than with it.
I can't deny that the sheath hurt my sight a couple of times: it does look good and I'm quite happy to have this costume, but I just don't know which class can use it due to the sheathes being extremely unfitting to most sets (Except DRK, but I main a Warrior sorry). Sure it doesn't hurt me or anything, but I did kinda wish that little detail wasn't included.
Also I kinda wished I could color it a tiny bit better: the side cloth can be only black which is a shame (I guess SE should add multiple coloring parts someday?). Yes the character always wore black but I'm not Cloud: I mostly wear white or red on my main toon! But I digress.

Its clipping with tails is extremely horrendous, and made even worse by the fact that it is a special reward item that serves no other purpose than being glamour. But why would I want to use it for glamour if that forced me to stare at that abomination that is its back all the time??? When it could have been so easily solved too, if only the thing had been moved a little bit up so that it would be above the tail. Just a little attention to detail. Yeah, either fix it or just remove it please.
Considering that it is the only sheath in the game, and does not work on any class, I don't even know why it was added to the armor model in the first place. This is a game where weapons floating magically on your back or hip are just accepted due to model and animation limitations. For a sheath to suddenly appear on an outfit, just to go unused, while ironically clipping through the natural placement of actual weapons, is kind of absurd.
If you want to look good wearing the only outfit with a sheath, you have to hide your weapon. That's the kind of logic that would normally lead a person to say, "Hmm, better leave the sheath out."
Edit:
You know what this game could use? A chestpiece version of the /visor command. Think of all the costumes and armor pieces that could benefit in some cool way from alternate forms. Toggle sheathes on or off, toggle glow effect from 2.1 crafted armor models, toggle lights on/off for ironworks gear, snowy aura on the snowman costume, etc.

You should send this to the developers, its a great idea. But I think the whole server memory blablablabla thingy will be used to make this not happen.You know what this game could use? my take on this is the sheathes are an eyesore, they clip like mad and you can't put any weapons in them. unless they remove or make a way for us to hide them mine will stay in the armiore. also I wish they would make it so we could dye the apron thing attached to it, even if it remained a darker shade of the color we dye the vest that would be nice
I use this costume for my highlander MCH glamour. In my opinion, the sheath is a welcome variation to an otherwise bland costume. The only reason I use the costume is because it is the only PS one era glamour available.
I think if it has clipping issues then that is fair enough. But if it's just because you don't like it then it should be left untouched. It'd be like me saying "I don't like this part of the Mona Lisa" and ripping it off. All the assets in this game are subjective to each individual.
