I don't support the idea of having a separate app outside of the game for this, they should be able to make it right there in game like the Fishing thingy. Also physical hand book is a very bad idea in any MMO type games. Why? Because any patch could render the information obsolete very fast. Just make it a window somewhere in the menues where when it is opened up you get all the info + lore tidbits, hell you could even make it so that you dont get the lore until you kill a certain amount of them like some other games do.
That would be cool. Filling in the Beastiary is a fun side activity in some of the other FF games. They could give basic game info about them after you've killed one, and then add the lore to the description after you've killed several more.
It would rely on the game actually having those statistics, though. If they give it to us, I suspect we'd all start out with an empty Beastiary when the feature is first released, and there are bound to be people who would grumble if it doesn't include their kills from before that data was tracked. (I wouldn't mind starting the Beastiary log from scratch myself, but I'm sure there are other people who would.)
I'm all for this! I've wanted this for a while. FFXII's bestiary spoiled me. Perhaps add a book in the inn that we can check, that way it doesn't eat up memory/clash with system limitations?

An instanced library would be a better suggestion, in my opinion. Have it divided into sections by the classification of the creatures we fight (e.g. wavekin, cloudkin, etc.).
This sounds like the feature from FFXIII if I am not mistaken....I support this if they don't try and tell us the they don't have the server space...I still want my Armoury spaces first then they can do stuff like this that is going to take up resource time and effort.

The outcry for a bestiary goes way back to 1.0 with developers hinting at something in the "Future" obviously not high on their to do list.
I could have sworn this was suppose to be in Heavensward. A Bestiary log containing more lore about Wild Beasts, Hunts, Primals, and dungeon bosses would really make things alot more interesting.
Even if it cant be used from the main menu due to technical issues, we now have that Library that's collecting dust at the Foundation. You can make it available from the Librabry just like the FF Type 0 if Im not mistaken.
Enemies are a sub-category under NPC's, in case anyone else was looking for them.
(at least that is how it is on the website...would expect the app is organized similarly)

It's not too surprising since it'd be a metric ton of extra writing every patch. I'd love it to be sure, I just don't know how feasible it is.
