Name Changing: Do you do it?

Except for Gale, here. (Though in my brain "Gale" is short for "Galeneau")

Unless I change Sex (which if my girlfriend gets an interest in the game I may) I don't plan to change my name. Still got 1 free fantasia sitting around for if she does, but I don't plan to switch from lala at all. xD

I've changed one character's name when using a Fantasia, but in that case it was partly the name that was the problem (two people with the same name-based nickname in my most active social Linkshell, meaning loads of confusion as to who is who and who says what and who's being addressed), and since the character was based on an old RP character, I didn't feel right just changing his name ^^; But then I changed the character to that RP character's sister instead xD

For my main, I think it's fairly obvious *points to the character info to the left* that I haven't changed ^_~ I started out as a Sun Seeker, and spent more than a year in that body. Changed the first time, to a Highlander female, shortly after the Halloween event last year (my 'excuse' being a glamour that didn't fall off ^_~), but not only couldn't I come up with a good name, I wasn't too keen on spending a bunch of extra money on something that was only going to be a temporary change. Three or so months later I changed to an Elezen male, and after a few months went back to Miqo'te male -- but a Keeper of the Moon this time. And then decided to try out Au Ra for a while xD But yeah, not likely to change my name ^^; At least not my first name. Technically, I'm not a Tia any more, since me and a friend went for an 'eyecandy match', but I'm not a Nuhn either, since two males aren't likely to breed very efficiently xD (And it annoys me when my GC insists on calling me Lieutenant Tia. It's like calling a female character "Miss Lieutenant" ¬_¬)

I've only changed my name once, and that was after my fiancé and I got married in game. Kind of surprised her when I took her name lol. Figured it would be appropriate for a male Miqo'te to take the woman's name.

I like my name to be lore compliant, but more than that I like my name to be an anagram of my real-life name. Unfortunately, none of the Xaela tribe names worked with the letters in my name, so I kept my previous name when I changed to Au Ra.

I only changed my name once prior to that, when I learned that Roegadyn HAD naming lore (I was a few weeks into the game when I figured that out). I changed from my previous name to my current name which was technically lore compliant for Hellsguard Roegadyn, and is now non-compliant for Xaela Au Ra. Oh, well!

I changed names only once on my alt account because I wanted to fit the naming theme a group of friends had going.

Despite saying they'd play with me though they never did, never bothered to admit me into their FC like they said they would and pretty much caused me to abandon the alt entirely except every now and then when I get bored. Waste of money. :'D

Admittedly I get a lot of mentions/compliments on the name (it's a name of a character in another canon) whenever I do bother to log in with it.

Changed it once due to stalkers, then said screw it...changed it back and took my BF last name because I love the name and I am unoriginal lol

I want to change it to Tizward Von Tormentor (first name Tizward, last name Von Tormentor) but with the restrictions, I can only get it to Tizward Von'tormentor, which looks terrible, there is just enough space for it too, which is frustrating.

One day maybe I can have it the way I want it, but that day is not now.

On a side now my IRL wife and I both have the same last name so don't look like I am going to be changing anytime soon.

I thought about changing my last name over to one of the major Moonkeeper clans, then I discovered another half dozen or so Moonkeepers with my clan name and adjusted my back story so that my clan is "small and dying out."

I'm just an Appearance OCD. I can't tell you how many times I Race Changed and Name Changed til I finally settled on my current character. In other games it's far worst. I could be 100 hours into a game and the moment something is off with my character, delete and restart from the beginning. There's times I would stay stuck on the character creation screen for about half a week. I would say for XIV, Name Changed around 10 times while almost 50 Fantasias have been used.
