Alt's why?

I have 2 alts. One on other server to talk with my NA XI friend there and 2nd on same server I mainly play for lols.

I've made alts on other servers just to see what the less populated ones are like. I've never levelled past 30 with them, though.

I started with three characters, intending all of them to be main characters doing everything. Though I don't roleplay much in the sense of talking in chat about what my character is doing, I do like having different races, names, and appearances helping me distinguish separate characters as separate people. It also lets me explore all options, like having a character from each starting city and one in each GC.

The sheer time commitment in leveling everything, however, has more or less relegated two of those three (as well as a couple others I've made since) to "alt" status, and Y'kayah has become my de facto "main" as I seem to most enjoy playing my Miqo'te and spend significantly more time with him than any of the others.

The main benefit to having alts is effectively doubling weekly caps and alleviating inventory issues.

I have an alt on different servers. I just like to play different races.

I have a number of alts that I don't play any more, for various reasons.

The first was during the open beta when I was locked out of Mirasa for... pretty much the entire thing. The NA servers were inaccessable to me so I made an alt on Valefor.

Then I made an alt for the same reason frequently listed here. I wanted to try a different aesthetic, without tossing away my current character.

Most recently, my brother started playing, but joined a different server his friends were on. So I made an Alt to play with him.

I need visual variety. I like creating new characters. Leveling them is just incidental.

I have friends on different servers I like to hang out with, and enjoy the story again at a very slow pace lol

My alt is there so I can be able to raid in two groups without messing with the current treasure drop system. And well being able to play another race is a bonus I guess.

I have an alt because back when we were still waiting on ARR I made 2 characters in the benchmark, one was my 1.0 character (also based off ffxi) that I kept as my main, one was a miqote that looked entirely different but I really liked her design. I ended up making her as an alt much later because I wanted to experience the main story again, although I never really caught her up and she's still at the king mog story quest now. I did do a bit of endgame on her at first until it started getting to the stuff that was locked behind main story. I think when Im bored enough in game on my main character I'll probably start catching up Kepi on the story and do HW stuff
