It's the classic white Mage look, if it looked any different it would just be wrong. And AST AF gear look awesome as heck! I love how they stay looking close to the old FF classic jobs. Just me though I've been a long time fan.

They have made some different ones. Prototype robe of healing has no red or white in it. It has an upper body that is almost armor like. It has a more manly feel to it even if it's a robe. And trust me, I do not follow gender stereotypes nor do I care about them. I just want robes that can have a more feminine aspect and robes that can have a more masculine aspect. They should be avail to both men and women. The staffs are usually our ugliest piece. The law one with the plastic looking leaves was ...Ewww. Something along the lines of Rav's staff is already better....I see BLM staffs and they make me envious. Not because they are black but because they are so intricate in design. They can make the base of ours wood or metal but does the top part have to always be so boring? The head pieces...They can do hoodies that could be more fun or stick with the crown theme and play around a bit. The nun looking thing is a big no no. Nobody likes that.
The only issue with the AF2 set is how blatantly it was designed around female proportions. I'm not saying that's wrong in itself, but because of this it doesn't translate onto male characters well at all. The midsection is flat due to the lack of feminine hips which causes the built-in skirt and back to flow out at a weird angle on guys. The hood is also designed after the traditional nun attire and doesn't change for males when equipped.
AF1 was a lot more gender neutral.
Glamores are a thing though so that's about all you can do OP.
Uh huh..
So I take that you've never heard of the Devout/Seer job, then?
You know, the job that's basically an upgrade to White Mage?
http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Seer
Because it's clearly modeled after it (just like Black Mage's Esoteric gear, which is modeled after the Magus job).
If anything, it's appropriate that it gets said gear.
Main White Mage but are tired of robes and hoods? The two key items in the FF design of the class since day 1? OK.
The two main things I would like to see with the class is a /visor option for hoods, even if it is just included in models from here on (I imagine it would take quite a bit of work to redo the old gear). And the option to glamour the one handed weapons on to the two handed.
The problem with the /visor one that I see is that the hood would probably have to be the head piece rather than part of the robe, or body head would have to be one piece of gear. You would also have people complaining that they couldnt wear their other head glamours with it, because that is the nature of gamers it seems.
I just had a vision of our hoods magically just folding back and then appearing back on our heads again, cause we know using proper animations for things like this is beyond the capacity of the game somehow or it'll take too much character data to implement. ><
I already said that I played every FF games. Some of the staffs and some of the head pieces like the metal (gear) type crowns and even full suits of armor like the one from Alex are not modeled after that. So it's not about following the model to the letter because they aren't. They just made some ugly designs which is lack of caring or aesthetics. The esoterics head gear is NASTYUh huh..

I already answered that and said that they have made some very different outfits so claiming some tradition isn't going to work. The staffs for one, are all different. Most are ugly except maybe 2 out of god only knows how many. We also have robes that are shoter, robes of other colors....So if they didn't want to step out of the box, it's too late. Now, let's make some nice outfits while we're out of the box.
Almost every glamor I come up with for my healer ends up using non-healer gear. I try to avoid crafter/gatherer gear. Currently a combination of Strife and Bohemian. Might throw in Sailor or Allagan/High Allagan bits here and there... the latter is at least healer specific.
If I really want to rock the WHM look I just use the original AF. AST AF I'm just not going to use the original appearance ever unless I fantasia.
