I like role-based gear, it adds job identity so not everyone can look alike. Just like Dread Dress = tank. White buttwings = healer. Purps buttwings = caster. Tall coat = Bard.

Although I recently went back to glamouring the High Allagan Tank Coat on my tanks, as I was previously in a swimsuit, and doing stun kicks in sandals. But hey the High Allagan Healer coat is still very popular and it's right up there with the tank coat as the best looking coats in the game in my opinion. I just wish it could be dyed like the one we saw in the Crystal Tower story.

Role-based gear mostly went out the window when we started having speedos, snowman heads, and a disproportionate distribution of universal robe/dress options vs. armored glamours (i.e. there are virtually none of the latter and loads of the former).

At this point I believe that the only items that should remain locked by role/Job are AF pieces.

I get the feeling the only reason gear is job locked is just cause they want to keep the heavy armor look as a tank perk >__>

LET ME MAKE HEAVY ARMOR MAGE, SE!!
    *grumble grumble*

AND NOT THAT CRAPPY ARMOR DRESS EITHER!
Also TC, non-lala male mages have to deal with nearly every gear looking terrible on us. Learn to live with it.

It's a matter of taste, but I'd suggest that Lala males haven't gotten the better end of the stick, simply because everything looks tiny and mushed when you are a Weeble person.

Just got my esoterics WHM headpiece, in my opinion it looks pretty good when viewed from the back or from the side, but then you suddenly look at it from the front and... well... let's just say this might be the first time I will worry about glamour...

You can always turn your head armor display off while on WHM.

This has been an ongoing discussion with my friend every time I buy a new esoteric piece and immediately grumble about glamouring it before I even put it on. So after seeing this thread a week or so ago I doodled what direction I wish they would have gone in, looking up old WHM gear from other final fantasy games. (Yes I stole the battlemage vials. I love that coat)

Overall I just wish we looked a bit more battle ready. Well and that my Au Ra didn't look like he is wearing a stuffed training bra, that the fabric was less shiny looking and that the few intricate, sorta pretty parts (top of the gloves and boots) were not covered up by the rest. Obviously a lot of the esoteric gear is just a remake of the original af gear which is fine. However while the others felt more intricate and epic...WHM feels lackluster to me. Which is disappointing considering how much time is spent earning it. Just my opinion and hope that one day I'll get a WHM specific robe I'll be proud to wear. Currently I feel like its that rabbit suit in a Christmas Story.

I've been saying this forever! I think this goes for all healers. WHY MUST WE ALWAYS HAVE ROBES?! Some verity would be nice. I'm sure the people that design this stuff is bored with all the robe looks. AND IF IT HAS TO BE MORE ROBES, at least make them shorter . . . we get some nice skirts (Gridania Grand Company Seal Gear) or pants but it gets covered by giant boots and long robes.

Variety, that is my biggest wish for healer gear, especially for white mage. PS. I think the artifact gear is horrible and a boring repeat of everything else we have.

    thank you.

Pfft. There are already plenty of things to put boobies in around here.

I'd make a spear counterpart joke, but male characters have very little in the way of discernable assets (i.e. insufficient junk to pack even the miniscule trunks with which we are provided).
