If you've got a healer you can trust, feel free to go STR. If you're unlucky/crazy/desperate enough to DF, then go VIT. Mix and match STR and VIT if you don't want parry on your accessories.

For me (And I played since beta), tank stat allocation has always been STR.

Back then PLD's block increased with STR (Not by much but still), parry increased with STR, and self heals (Bloodbath/Inner Beast) were increased by STR. After 3.0, block and parry don't benefit from STR anymore. But DPS and aggro became a "thing".

Either way, it's all of 35 point at 59, which is hardly a piece of accessory. So it shouldn't matter in the grand scale of things. But I prefer STR.

I am working on the premise that in full VIT accessories you are fairly clear of every HP check I am aware of, so there is no need to put even more excessive HP on this STR is the most benefit.

Conversely if you want to maximise DPS, the VIT points prevent you from doing so.

Finally, assuming you aren't Penta melding, and running a combo of STR and VIT accessories, you will be getting VIT accessories from savage and waiting until after DPS have them to get STR ones, it makes sense to allocate your points to maximise the number of slots on your right side using the easiest accessory type for you to get.

If questing, strength all day. If you're leveling in dungeons then you might need vitality 1-50. Just keep a stack of hyms on you, they are so cheap and then you can just change as needed.

    - Doing big pulls as PLD, go VIT, STR won't do crap for you. During bosses, switch to a full STR set and use Sword Oath.
    - DRK is whatever you want for big pulls, they actually put out damage.
    - WAR, you want full STR ideally. Bloodbath gets that much stronger, and your damage obviously goes up which is no joke to begin with.

You should just spec STR on all 3 tanks and switch your accessories as needed. No matter what, wear STR accessories for bosses. VIT doesn't do crap unless your healer doesn't even use Regen/AB and just goes AFK. Even more so for SCH.
