kinda confused, no exp after 50 if heavensward isn't installed on my PS3?

I figured that it was a feature added to the game (in general) not something that was a expansion feature

I thought most modern MMOs made you buy the expansion? That's how SWTOR works. 50-55 requires purchasing an expansion, just like 55-60, 60-65, etc.
