So i think this might have been discussed(or not) i tryed to find something but i couldn't so i'm posting this, basically of what Midgardsormr, guarded on his lake?

We only know that it was Midgardsormr, because Gaius said it was him, but it is true?

Because Midgardsormr existed on time of the prime allagan empire with the perfect example being Tiamat being trapped on Azys lia, he lived through the whole allagan empire the same that literally gives the technology to conquest to garleans now, and was beaten by them? It feels off.. Even more when he express to be worried about Tiamat in azys lia even though he respect her decision to stay there, he waited until someone like WoL show up to leave.


What you guys think? Can i be thinking pure non-sense?

Nope, like many players, you have simply stumbled upon the million dollar question.

Midgardsormr has guarded Silvertear Falls since time immemorial as part of a covenant with Hydaelyn, and sacrificed his corporeal incarnation to stop the Garleans from seizing control of it. However, he appears to have also, at some point, let the Allagans establish the seat of their empire in the region around it; wage a campaign from said seat that kills/imprisons at least two of his First Brood; and on top of all that trap the primal incarnation of his son, along with tens of thousands of living worshipers, in an artificial satellite that generates energy from their endlessly perpetuated suffering, channeling said energy down to, you guessed it, a giant crystal spire situated squarely in his domain, spitting distance from Silvertear Falls.

So what gives, Middy? Nobody knows, yet. Please look forward to it!™

We don't know but at a Pax East 2015 interview with Koji Fox he said that we would find out what the deal with Silvertear Lake was, what was sealed under it and what Midgardsormr was guarding in the 3.x cycle. So its likely to come up in the ongoing patch story.

My guess is the reason Midgardsormr didn't get involved with the Allag may have to do with whatever his compact is. I'm guessing since the dragons sound like they aren't native that his guardianship was one of the conditions he had to allow the dragons to live upon the planet.

I suspect he Covenant was to protect Hydaelyn in exchange for Midgardsomnr and his 7 eggs to live in Hydaelyn's world. Hydaelyn kept her end of the bargain, now it's up to Midgardsomnr to forever protect her by any means necessary.

As messed up as the Allagans were they were actively sealing/ preventing the summoning of Primals and all their technology did not suck up Hydaelyn's Aether.

I am sure Midgardsomnr would do ALOT of things .... but he's got the covenant to deal with; like he said: he would have killed the WoL if it weren't for Hydaelyn's covenant

In the FFXIV 1.0 intro cutscene, once Middy brings down the Agrius and it explodes into the lake, there is a huge burst of aetheric energy and you see many primals escaping out of it.
Now, not all of that scene may still be canon in ARR, but I'd imagine there is something hinted at there that we will learn more about.

My pet theory is that there was something like the Heart of Sabik under Silvertear.

The Garleans didn't defeat Midgardsormr directly.

Midgardsormr was defeated because he darn goofed and stayed wrapped around what was essentially a big bag of explosives.

If he had made the same mistake back during Allag's time, he would have probably died then too.

I remember reading somewhere that Midgardsormr was basically just napping during the 3rd Astral Era. It likely wasn't anything official, though.

But if he had, would he have been reborn then as he has now? I've always been curious of how many corporeal vessels he's occupied.

I mean, really guys, we can come up with all sorts of fan explanations that perfectly explain why major overlapping plot threads never actually intersect, but so long as no explanation has been provided in the actual in-game lore, it kinda begs the question.
