Housing - Thinking outside the 'mooglebox'

Had an interesting idea that would be a great slant on personal housing if SE were to implement it.

Before i go into that ill remind you all what we use to have in FFXI.

    ****Warning - Blatant FFXI reference****

In XI we had, well... pretty much a box that had little charm or character. Sure you could use it for storage and gardening (albeit using flowerpots) plus a few other things, but ultimately it was a little restricted.
And rightly so as the game has many years on the clock now plus i doubt there was good enough hardware capability to be a little more outward-thinking.

Roll the clock forward to now and the opportunity that could lay before us in FFXIV.

    Imagine this.....

You run through an instance into a garden, your garden. Before you, you see your house at the end of a path. To one side is a tree that you can harvest from. Next to the tree is a pond where you can fish.
Pan to the other side of the house is an area where you are nurturing some seedlings. In the corner you are met with a familiar face, your loyal yellow steed, resting in his stable.

You walk up your path to your house and enter the door. Inside are all your favorite things. Furniture crafted by your own hand, banners and awards given to you by your grand company for acts of valor.
Seeking to rest after you hard day fighting, you hang up your spare weapons in your weapon rack and stow your hard fought for battle spoils in your chest.

You lay down on your bed and drift into a deep sleep.

You awaken to /tells from your comrades that a battle awaits and that your services are needed once more. You hastily gather your tools of war and head out of your house to the garden. There awaits your feathered friend, also rested, and you ride out to battle once more............

I don't think anybody would disagree with you and say this wouldn't be a wonderful little addition.

(Bar those who think player housing is lame of course)

I think you are probably right, if any housing is put into the game, it will likely be something to do with the grand companies

I would love to have housing back. It is so awkward changing your gear in public.

And you can link your dream home to your linkshell village and everyone can then partake of your wares or check out your house.

You could of course lock your house door, put a fence around your garden, or environmentally protect your stream.

Dream big right? I'll just be happy with a mailbox for now, but good ideas nevertheless.
