Misha Evans of Gysahl, always have time and patience for new players, since we all start there at some point. =) I think new people really do need something like this now, its very nice to see.

Dragomir Rven or Witch Blair on Bodhum

This is something we should all be doing as part of our linkshells. My main linkshell on Selbina is always happy to take in newbie players, we've taken in at least half a dozen in the last couple of weeks and we help them get started. We tell them how to make gil, we put them in touch with crafters, tell them how the game works, help them level and do events, we do NM runs for them. Most of all we make them feel welcome and part of the community. I'm in Rust linkshell if people want help.
One piece of advice I'd give to anyone rolling on selbina is to get to know a Lalafell. The lala only linkshell Lemmings is just about the most useful contact you can have on the server and the most helpful and nice bunch you could meet.

I'm Robert Redensa of Wutai and I would be very happy to help any new players. I have all crafts to 20, so I can even help with gear while the markets are still in flux.
I really hope they make an official mentor system. This game can be a lot of fun, but needs quite a bit of explaining for most players.

Rowln Starwind - Gysahl
I try my best to help people who need it.
Always looking to meeting new people on Balmung! Send me a /tell in-game!

I'm Drazzan Tsukiko of Lindblum. I'm willing to help new players~ I have a bunch of friends with high level crafts so I can help procure items/gear. I'm a THM50, followed by MIN32; with CON being my next main. I play in the GMT Timezone. The game is fun; especially with friends and people to play with.
Organising by Timezones or something to your list may help for more international players?
Something else that would help a lot is if some crafters made some of the lower level gear, shoved them into the wards and priced them accordingly and not at the ridiculous NPC selling price that ANY new player wouldn't be able to afford. They could probably afford one piece from an NPC, but they all cost like 40-70k a piece.
Since this game is more gear dependent than before, new players are wearing the default gear up until 20, (Unless they get lucky and get a piece from a leve) in which they might as well be wearing nothing. The current NPC prices are astronomical for new players. This is probably contributing to the difficulty they are having.
There are like 30 different ways to approach this but yea, I agree.Something else that would help a lot is if some crafters made some of the lower level gear, shoved them into the wards and priced them accordingly and not at the ridiculous NPC selling price that ANY new player wouldn't be able to afford. Every time I visit the lodestone forums now I wind up thinking of the sound of a toddler throwing a tantrum.
