What did you do to Enraged Nannygoat in THM quest?

Just curious about what did other THMs do to the Enraged Nannygoat during class quest "The Big Payback."

I was about to hit "Return" after supposedly finishing my objective, suddenly this Nannygoat came charging in anger and agony. I checked my Journal, it still said go back to the guild to report. The chat log also only talked about obtaining the Billygoat's horn.

The Nannygoat couldn't damage me but I didn't fight back because I felt sorry for it. I couldn't return while being attacked so I just ran away from the instance. Still finished the quest just fine (I was thinking I might fail if I run away, but I didn't mind going back to redo the quest again if that's the quest).

NPC told me something like I accomplished the order and have taken the burden of vengeance or hatred upon myself, something like that.

I wonder what would happen or if NPC dialogue would change if outcome was otherwise, like, you be killed by the Nannygoat, or if you killed the goat.

On my current character, when I did this quest, I tried to put it out of its misery and I got completely rolled by it. I -think- on my previous character I had THM a bit higher when I did the quest, and also I think it was back when Punishing Barbs was still completely broken, so I managed to kill it. I don't remember the dialogue being any different, actually.

I kind of like the idea of the much stronger monster showing up and quite possibly annihilating you, in the THM quest - you truly did take the burden of vengeance upon yourself. Also, the NPC mentions that you'll have to experience death frequently yourself in order to understand the mysteries of thaumaturgy

I was a taru in my past life though, so I'm used to being intimately familiar with the ground... ._.;;

I beat him, but it was a tough fight. (This was about 6 months ago) I didn't know you could run away.

Retrospectively though, it makes sense that he's options, because no other formal quest at optimal rank thus far has presented me with such a challenge.

Well, I felt bad enough I had to kill a BUNCH of Nannygoats in order to lure the Death-marked Billygoat out to kill, in order to accomplish my mission. Then I killed the Billygoat, and yet another Nannygoat popped up. I knew she was mad I killed her Billy. I was standing there letting her ram at me for a while, deciding what to do, before I finally fled from the scene.

To be honest, this THM quest haunted me in a way. Add that up with how the NPCs in the guild talked to me ><;;
