The issue occurs 100% of the time when trying to change the top program when FFXIV is in full screen.
I'd like to second this.
Same specs as previously given by JackDaniels![]()
If and when they decide to fix the fullscreen mode alt+tab problem, I hope they can also fix the game client so it doesn't crash when the Windows Vista/7 User Account Control locks the desktop to ask for admin permission.
why does he need to fill out a form when 100% of the community has the problem, lol? what great customer copy paste support.
"Your" is possessive. "You're" means you are.
@Zuellni: it is the same problem.
Platform: Windoes Vista x64 Ultimate
ISP: Alice (german)
Type of Internet Connection: DSL
Internet Connection Speed: 16Mbit/s
Date & Time: Any
Frequency: Always
Reproduction Steps:
1. Start Final Fantasy XIV (fullscreen mode - any resolution)
2. Once in the main menu or in the game press ALT + TAB
Result:
The Game is sent to the task bar and sound continues to play, but a DirectX error occurs: "Unable to detect DirectX device. The program has shut down. Please restart FINAL FANTASY XIV.". Once the error occured pressing the OK-Button in the error window shuts the game down completely.
The bug also occurs whenever a program or service running in the background forces FINAL FANTASY XIV to the task bar, like the Windows Vista/7 Account Control or the Windows Update service.
Expected Result:
The game should not show an error message when it is forced to the task bar and resume normal operations once it regains fullscreen capability.
1. Set Windowed mode on
2. Get Autohotkey
3. Make a script like this:
^+a::
WinSet, Style, -0xC00000,a ; remove the titlebar and border(s)
WinMove, a, , 0, 0, 1600, 900 ; move the window to 0,0 and resize it to 1600x900 (or whatever you use)
return
4. Run the autohotkey script
5. ctrl+alt+A on an open FFXIV client
6. ????
7. Profit
It's not a bug.
