    PC players using PS4 controller

    Just a few questions,

    1. Do you have to use BetterDS3 or Motioninjoy to use a PS4 controller or does windows 8 have the drivers?

    2. Does the vibration work?

Currently using a PS3 controller via BetterDS3 and I get no vibration when fishing, however on the vibration test in betterDS3 it works.

    1. Neither. I use scpserver. Those two other programs kept dropping connection(mind you, this is wired) from the controller which resulted in wipes.

    2. It DOES, but for some reason the game refuses to save the vibration setting. And by "does" I mean my controller rumbles when enabling the setting. I haven't noticed it otherwise.

Don't use Motionjoy. I used that until I realized it was casing my PC to BSOD. I use scpserver like Phire now, but it's not as user friendly.

So it doesn't actually work when you fish or take damage?

I was able to pair my ps4 controller with my PC, and it works fine, although I had to do that alias thing too (why can't ffxiv detect the controller properly? Is is because Sony never released drivers?). However, my question is there a way to keep the controller paired with my PS4 as well? The PS button used to turn it on, and of course that no longer works.

That's an issue with Bluetooth peripherals, and it can't pair to more than one device at a time. Even if it could, then how would each know that an input was intended for them (actually that in itself is an easy fix but...)? EM signals are broadcast and everyone in range to receive gets the message, so you will have an instance of the device not knowing what to do if the both the PC and PS4 send it conflicting messages (such as shutting off).

Yeah Xbox One controllers are the same way. Once I paired it with my computer it didn't work with the Xbox until I resynced it.

I would recommend InputMapper for PS4 controller. The installer would be all you need. You won't need the xbox controller driver or anything else, unlike some of the other ps4 controller softwares.

It's easy to use and you can customise everything, including the colour indicator and there is an advanced macro builder.

And yes, the vibration works pretty reliably.
