So I wondered about Grand Company standings and was told it was a measure of the seals you acquire... well, I did make it to Second Flame Lieutenant, so I'm not unfamiliar with their acquisition. Needless to say, being new, when I looked at the standings I had a WTF moment. So they list the top 500 by weekly and monthly. Looked at the weekly. Get this... the top standing person got almost 70k seals EACH day for the 7 that make up the weekly. The 500th person was more reasonable at 4135 per day. Per day.

Uh, according to what is shown to me in the game, there is a cap at 50k for my rank... which is currently the highest one attainable. How does one amass close to half a million seals in the space of 7 days... must less over 30 days, the other time period for the "standings," given a 50k cap?

As for acquisition, how many hours does it take to collect almost 70k EVERY DAY? At 4k/hr, that's 17.5 hours.

Oh, the data is just my realm, just my GC. All worlds, all GCs show the top weekly standing going for something like 750,000. IN A WEEK!

Welp maybe it's the accumulation of iLevel 160 gear (almost 1k a pop dropping 8 or more a dungeon) being sold at once across multiple people.

Level 60 provisioning gives you quite a lot of seals, especially if you turn in HQ item. You also get 920 seals per expert roulette loot. Not sure if any crafted items give a reasonable amount of seals for expert delivery currently though.

I haven't done it but I imagine that it's dungeon in various ways. You have the daily gather/crafter turn ins. HQ stuff will net you double the reward for the turn in and each day none or all of those will have a star by the craft/gather class to indicate that it gives a better reward than usual. End game gear gives about 1k in seals as well. There's also GC leves, fates, dungeon dailies, challenge log, the FC buffs, etc.

Or venture coins, I guess, if you have like 8 retainers. Maybe their just buying that Chocobo pepper? XD

True...I myself spent a gross amount of seals on cordials back when leveling.
Cordial....................ugh, the description makes it sound like mountain dew or something.
Ah ventures... those too. I've found I have a surplus of expert turn in items now though...maybe I hsould go ahead and make more stacks of venture.

If you constantly use your seals then you can obtain whatever number of seals you can amass. How to obtain seals fast? Well you can do provisions for crafters and gatherers classes which gives at least 10k seals a day. You also can run run Expert roulette dungeons to obtain every piece of gear you can put your hands on which can be submitted to your GC for 900 seals each.

As for me I use lots of seals to obtain items for constructing my airships which normally burns my 50k seals quite easily.

Just on the last two days I made expert deliveries worth of 120K seals. Spent it all on ventures (I have at least 600 ventures now) to pay my greedy lalafelin troop of retainers.

Well, the standings count the total number earned, whereas the cap is on the number you can hold at one time. To earn more than the cap, you just earn some, spend them, earn some more, spend them, earn some more, and so on.

But getting up to the sort of numbers some of those standings show looks way out of my league. I've never had trouble earning plenty (particularly as a crafter/gatherer who often does supply/provisioning missions), and am often capped on them, but I've never earned the sort that gets into those GC standings.

Some people occasionally mass craft turn-ins like Militia Chokers.
A couple did in my FC, back when Lucis was BiS and they needed the seal items.
