if anyone has seen the series castle.... i feel like beckett when she's trying to get her gun back after her LoA after getting shot in the chest.... she says "I _want_ my gun"..... wat i'm saying "I _want_ my self heal skill" mch is only class without one PLZ give mch a self heal...

MCH needs a certain level of love beyond a self heal. Getting pegged by AS1 lasers isn't gonna be remedied by a minor self heal, no matter how much some people feel we NEED it.

What they should of done is made machinist more like Vincent from FF7. Call the job a different name if need be. I have not leveled mch so I don't know the story around it but I assume it wouldn't be as neat as a story of why as said job being able to transform into a chaos mode etc. A good chunk of the "gun" abilities could remain, scrap turret and replace with mechanics around chaos form.....
thought: how many ppl would switch to mch the way it is now if a Vincent glamour came out only for that job...

Well the MCH story level 30-50 was (in a nutshell) trying to prove that even commoners without heavy combat training could be effective in defending Ishgard through the use of guns (since while it takesa lot of training to master being a dragoon or warrior, using a gun is relatively simple in comparison and doesn't require high physical strength)

So, your idea would destroy the lore XD but it would be cool

Well lore wise it could remain partly what you said for the starting quests but mid+ job quests could involve being captured by heretics and experimented on etc. leaving the player(job) changed with new chaos form and abilities supporting in the following levels and the final quests could be the player(job) getting revenge against that particular heretic group.

That would kinda clash with the spirit of the MCH NPCs though.

They're very light hearted and an easy going group. Having dark experiments on them just flips that around completely. Think of them as the super casual, fun group.

I doubt we'd ever see such a dark direction for a job like Machinist

You should do the quests though and see what I mean for yourself.

If they ever did implement a Chaos sort of thing, it would most definitely be its own class though
