It's never the same way as your first job in this game however.. Your choices are pretty much fate grinding or dungeons. Not the epic questing to level cap that you had for your first job.

Really? I like leveling up classes from level one as well, but I thought starting at level 30 was fun, too. It meant you started off with a bunch of skills that you had absolutely no idea how to use. I enjoyed the chaos of figuring out the difference between Essential Dignity, Exalted Detriment and Luminiferous Aether. Complete chaos for a while there. It was fun to watch so many people, myself included, flail about in lower level dungeons because we had no idea what we were doing.Leveling a job from 1 to 30, last time i did that was last year. I was hoping the 3 new jobs would allow me to start at level 1, but no. They gave us 3 lv30 jobs. Not only you have 20 actions to get used to at the same time, but it's like "here's your new class, it's lv30 already, we did the fun part and left you the boring grinding."
Is there any hope for a new lv1 class?
Note: Stella is not a healing move. Who knew? -shrugs-

I despise leveling classes/job pre-50 now, and I'm glad the HW jobs give you a head start. On the first few classes I didn't mind, but now that I'm used to endgame and working on a fifth/sixth lv60 (depending on how you count the ACN classes) and have most ARR classes at 50 or higher, going back to having a regular rotation of like two abilities and slooooooowly working my way up is just painful. I mean yay, I get to do Tam-tara 500 more times. Not gonna say it needs to be "fixed" or anything, but it's painfully tedious (even if painful tedium is what you sign up for by playing an MMO).

Leveling an AST from 1-30 is pointless. It's not like ACN where you start summoning from almost the get go. Your bread and butter card skills don't start until 30.

I leveled all battle classes to 50 back in 2.XX I HATE doing hunting logs + FATEs to reach lv 15 and then the slow grind to LV30 where you'll finally get your Job crystal.
I'm happy they did it like this since these jobs are at least for more experience folks, even if you've never done the role before. I'f you're unsure of how to use abilities properly, there's always the pre-Haukke Manor dungeons to get a hang of it.

...You honestly found it that difficult to learn new skills at 30? Not trying to be rude but...
You get a small handful to learn, and how hard was it really to understand what to do?
And for the "The boring grining part" you were going to grind anyways from 1-30.
You could of went back to Sastasha and learned how to press 1 or 2 skills.
Haukke/30 was a perfect start AND it's a fun dungeon lol.
Sadly I think the main problem is that people don't bother reading what their ability's do once I got DRK I spent a few minutes reading all the ability's I got. If people have a hard time understanding how the stuff works its in no way the problem of new jobs starting at level 30 its that they can't read or their too lazy to take a few minutes to read them or a combination of both.
I don't know but what I do know is leveling is slow and boring.
WoW's magic level 90 button wants to talk to you.
You always got bonus exp for having a higher level job, when leveling a lower level one. Ok I am not sure if ALWAYS pre-alpha, but, for a very long time now, that has been the case.
MANTASTIC: I got 1017 problems, but playing FFXIV ain't one.
Llyren: Lala Tanks hit point density levels attract small planets

Unfortunately the gamers of today don't like that, pretty sure most people would be happy with an instant 60 button.
Just look at WoW, where you can buy a level 90.
