My FC is pretty much dead atm, there's nothing to do other than our own savage statics and capping eso. And there are a good number of long time players quitting entirely.

I'm pretty convinced the reason we have this problem is that there's no real endgame.
Lots of people play MMOs for endgame, level cap content. We don't have it.
Hell, EQ2 I could go get a group and xp grind for AA... More fun than leveling yet another job anyway.

Seal Rock is the only thing that's really keeping me playing, there's not much else I currently enjoy right now. But i'm really looking forward to the Vanu Vanu beast tribe quests!
Yeah, not a pvp person. Was actually ecstatic to see such little focus on it when I started here.
PvP in this game is a joke anyways. It sucks Monkey butt.
All 3 modes are literally the same thing, and Wolve's Den makes me laugh.
A few pages back I suggested them to implement Fantasy Earth Zero, a PvP SE made game. It shut down here in 2011/12? I think for the NA but still alive in JP.
It was the best PvP game I ever played, despite it being pretty old and the graphics wasn't everything, but you basically picked a side
you wanted to be on...I think there was 5 kingdom thingies, and then you go in a field, and collect crystal to build Scaffolds, become Knights/Wraiths/Giants to protect from other Wraith/Giants and
kill the other scaffolds and such, you also beat down the scaffolds and try to take their little area. People grew friendships, had friendly rivalries and when you had so and so on your team, you knew the tides would change...
and on the other side you're like "Oh crap it's XYZ..." You could also give Crystals for people asking and communicate throughout the game.
Meanwhile in this game; everyone is running around like fools with one boring goal and stand there. Communicating is non-existent for me in TA/Balmung side and I don't care
The modes suck. Winning isn't fun, losing I don't care. I really really do wish they bring back FeZ here. It is one of my fave games ever.
Sorry for the rant.
I've always said the reason is that the game's systems fracture the player base into small cliques and kills the idea of a larger community. When a lot of content is solo (gathering, crafting, MSQ, questing, a lot of the DF experience), 4 person (dungeons), or 8 person (raid content) and the most common group size is an 8 person static, what is the point of having a server of thousands? Why are there limits on LS sizes?
Back when I played WoW, the hardest level of content was 40 man and later 25 man. As a result, you had to know people and partake in the social aspect of the community. There was no DF, RF, PF, or anything. You had to actually talk to people. You actually needed to have a larger circle of friends. Back then, I actually played with, knew, and interacted with 50-60 people on a regular basis. It was a social game. FFXIV isn't. I log on to FFXIV and interact with a handful of people. It's not an MMORPG.
TBH, I think they should provide a 24 man raid that is on par with the difficulty and rewards of the hardest 8 man content. It would go a long way in broadening the scope of the game. Add in real server events like requiring the server to do something to unlock the second wing of Alexander -- something like farming / crafting enough turn-ins, killing enough mobs, or clearing enough content as a server. Force statics, FCs, and LSes to actually interact with the community on a larger scale.

As somebody who played from Vanilla to WoD, and quit for XIV, I would prefer if the game NEVER followed WoW's raid formula, ever. The community was the most vile and toxic I have ever encountered in all my years of gaming. Raiding in BC was nearly impossible outside of Kara, unless you knew the right people or were actually good enough at your class, and guilds made room for you on off nights when the main raiders got their loot. Most people never saw true endgame content until after WoTLK hit and the game was dumbed down. Don't even get me started on EPGP based guilds. Say goodbye to any and all chances at gearing when you have a small fraction of special snowflakes with enough saved up to always, and I mean always, get gear before you did.
My entire reason for quitting and coming here was for the small community and less elitist attitude the players had. Up until recently, it wasn't even toxic here, like WoW is/was, and sure enough, all the WoW players coming here(those that I personally know) have started to make the community toxic. Being forced to interact with these people for any reason is a huge turn off. I like DF, I like PF, I like that the game isn't WoW.
WoW was okay 6-7 years ago. I reiterate, I prefer the game as is, and if I wanted to play WoW, or Raid like I did in WoW, or do AQ events like WoW, I would just go back.

It's more because of SE's approach to make the game hardcore rather than players from other games swarming in. I've been in the "hardcore" scene of this game for quite some time now and the people making it a cesspool have been around for a looong time already. When you make content so hard that only a couple hundred people in the world can realistically clear it without being carried by their group to some degree obviously people start to behave like savages. My entire reason for quitting and coming here was for the small community and less elitist attitude the players had.
