Because there's a 15 line limit on macros currently. And you can't use macros in macros because then you could chain together a long sequence where you just auto craft everything infinitely until you manually stop and they don't want that.

Crafting should take time and effort, you shouldn't be able to just press one button and then auto craft 500 things.

No, since you can't start crafting an item until you select it in the crafting log and click the "Synthesize" button. Every time your craft ends in success or failure, you have to do this. And there is no way to do this directly with macros. You can't just write a macro and make it auto craft w/o the game requiring some user interaction.

You can do this right now using a Logitech Gaming keyboard on the PC... and why not? I mean crafting basic items is repetitive and dull. And crafting those same items 500 times, what difference does it make if it's done automatically or not? It's just the same actions over and over. What you aren't going to do is macro items that are difficult to craft. You try to macro these recipes and you'll almost always fail, resulting in the loss of materials! And hi-level recipes require hard-to-obtain items that you will definitely not want to risk loosing to a macro.
