Joining the Spirit

So I've been fishing where the quest tells me to for about two hours now and Fingerprints of the Gods has yet to activate.

It's my only gathering ability equipped and I've quadruple checked to make sure it is equipped.

Is there some trick to this I'm missing?

Told me to mine there but no mining points. There is a chart in the patch notes that tell you where to find the catalysts, might want to try that.

You can gather from any point as long as Fingerprints of the Gods is active.

This is just silly then. I get making it a challenge to get regularly, but this is supposed to be a tutorial quest...

The quest is just to get a catalyst and show that you can do it.

Well I've been at it for more than two hours now and haven't had the ability proc, even though it is the only one equipped. If it's supposed to show me how, then it needs to show me how.

i got it on first try on quest, but when farming for catalysts, i get one per hour... its extreme! xD

Go where the "???" spot in the map is. Use your Grade 1 node-finding skill (Like Arbor call) and gather in the node that shows up. So far all my friends and I got it at first try.
