Next Expansion can the City-State be the hub?

As the title says please for the next expansion make the city-state the hub, its so sad that for a expansion that revolves around Ishgard we spend more time in a little area like Idyllshire. Now I know Idyllshire is the Mor Dhona of the Ishgard region; however, that only made sense in the 2.0 areas because the city-states were beginning areas. Ishgard requires level 50 to enter.

Ishgard isn't the hub? It's the capital city of the Coerthas region, it has a market board, retainer bell, and easy transportation to Coerthas Western Highlands, the Sea of Clouds, and Azys Lla. Getting to Tailfeather or Anyx Trine isn't hard to do from Coerthas either, since there is a direct chocobo flight path. Once you're at either of two cities, you can easily go into the Dravanian Hinterlands or the Churning Mists. People just idle in Idyllshire because they're silly, Ishgard is at the heart of map.

I think they spread out areas where people gather because they don't want everyone in 1 spot.

The 'hub' of a game such as this will always change to where the most 'action' will be. In 1.0 the hub was Ul'dah, 2.0 it started in Ul'dah then migrated to Mor Dhona. Now it's... well, wherever it is. Next expansion it could well find it's way back to Mor Dhona or Ul'dah. Who knows. Either way, it's going to be where the players are, which is entirely out of Square's hands.

It would be nice, but I think the goal of Mor Dhona 2.0 is so high pop servers aren't lagged to hell and back due to how many people are in one spot. Prime time in Mor Dhona used to be a problem.

they have total control. if they don't want people there, they can take out Summoning Bells / Mail Moogles. not having a Market Board and having the Hunt Board in Ishgard already keeps people like me from staying in Idyllshire.

if they move the Red Scrips and Favor NPCs to like Tailfeather, you would disperse even more people.

Revenant's Toll didn't always have bells yet that didn't stop people from congregating there. Idyllshire doesn't have a market board yet people still idle (heh) there all day every day. Again, players will camp where they will, Square permitting or no. As as an aside, Square added bells to Toll because players were congregating there so much.

there's a difference between stopping people and encouraging more people. putting the bells in Revenant's Toll put more people there, they didn't have to do that.

Original use of Hub I think is wrong

After the reading the original, and seeing the walk you guys took with the thought, I don't think the original post used hub in the correct sense.

I think what he was saying/asking is for the next expansion to be centered around the main city-state that we are heading to (if that is how the story line is about to work).

I believe that what he is asking for (like in 3.0) for the central point of the story and the lands to be the city-state itself. Considering how the 2.0 city-states are setup and how both the 2.0 and the start of 3.0 have gone, I understand the request.

However, I also think that about the only way this request could be made a reality is if Ala Mingo is the 4.0 City-State, and it is also the last place we actually get to.

Heavensward could not do this since we had already gotten to Coerthas and you could see Ishgard from Whitebrim Front and Stone Vigil.

I will say that what Brightshadow suggest would make for a potentially interesting story progression with the City-State being the end game map and 8 man end game dungeon.

Yeah I know that Heavensward got close with the Vault but think for a second if an entire city-state (Ul'Dah possibility with the 3.0 story progression) was itself a dungeon where you had to fight (same city-state) from the Gate of the Sultana all the way through to the market and fight up the Steps of Thal to get the Royal Prommenade for the final Boss encounter to save the Sultana?

Sounds like an ass kicking good time to me...as long as they give us plenty of Brass Blades to kick the crap out of along the way.
