    Eorzean Astronomy

    Dear reader,

    no-no. That's too formal.

    Hi all!

As a home grown native of our previous Phoenix server I would like to share a piece of knowledge with you all. Simply because I was very bored one lonesome evening, sitting on a mountain peak that was ~2500 lalafells high, gazing up at the stars, I started to wonder. How big really is the planet Hydealyn? And how big is the sun, Azeyma?
Well after a few moments, several whiles, and lots of later thereafter, I was done with my research and the results can be seen in the link below!

As I wrote this prior to obtaining Heavensward, some pieces may be outdated and wrong. Nevertheless, I hope it's a good and educational read.

You don't need grammar when talking about cheese.

I've read it and enjoyed it, but there's one possible theory missing!

Terrestrial planets, which name is derived from a term for Earth, are usually defined as planets of sizeRp=0:51:7R
If Hydaelyn falls within that particular size, then there's a certain amount of velocity involved. A planet with extreme high velocity - In this case, 20 times faster if a Eorzean year were to match with an Earthen year - would potentially make it inhabitable as planets with extreme velocity have a much higher surface temperature than slower planets. As there are still tropical and winter-like climates on the Eorzean continent (and not on a global scale), you could conclude that the velocity of Hydaelyn is somewhat comparable with Earth. So that leaves us with just orbit length around the star and gravitational time dilation. Unless the orbit of Hydaelyn is 20 times longer around the star compared to Earth, the main cause for the massive time difference would be gravity. After all: 1 Eorzean year takes 7305 Eorzean days. Add in the fact that the average Eorzean adventurer can jump as high as their own height without effort, I don't believe it's far-fetched to conclude that gravity is significantly weaker on Hydaelyn compared to Earth.

HOWEVER, what of these little creatures?!

These beings are significantly shorter than any other race on the planet; roughly 33% in size, but with unknown mass. They can leap even double their own height or perhaps even triple, which no other form of intelligent life on the Eorzean continent can achieve. Now what if the Lalafell came from another planet where gravity was much more severe. Stronger than the gravity on Hydaelyn and perhaps even stronger than on Earth. That would not only explain their abnormal leaping ability, but also their short stature.

    Ergo:
