Thread: Best way to do the 2.0-2.55 Story to access Ishgard?

When Heavensward launched I went straight to Ishgard and picked up AST - sounds like you had the same thing in mind.

For 30-50 I mostly ran dungeons, as FATEs are dull and healers get good queue times for most of them. You should also be running the Leveling and Trial roulettes each day for the bonus - if you don't have them unlocked, go and do that! (Unfortunately, as you noticed when you reached 50 on your first class, the Main Story roulette is dead so you're probably better off not sitting in queue for that. Far cry from the Mythology days, ha hah.)

There are some popular zones - on my overpopulated server at least - for grinding your face against FATEs, if that's more your style. Since you start at 30 you'd head straight for Costa Del Sol, move onto Coerthas Central after a few levels, and finally board the Northern Thanalan Bot Train for the last stretch.

Lvl 30 - Costa del Sol FATEs and daily roulettes
Lvl 40 - N.Thanalan Fates
Lvl 50 - Side quests you didn't do, leves, dungeons up to 55-ish.
Lvl 55 - Churning Mist FATES / daily roulette / hunts
Lvl 58 - Dravanian Hinterland FATES / daily roulette /hunts

I'm nearly there and what i did was do the 2.0 story while levelling to 50.
Then I basically run through a patch and a half on a weekend day, then the same the next day.
Now I'm just topping it off daily.

It's a grind. Ive also been running postmaster and hildibrand alongside it as oftentimes they put you in the same zone as the story.

I kinda enjoy the story though. It seems to get better the further in you get. Not just the story, but they seem to tell it better. Like, there's a lot more voiced cutscenes now and the fetch quests are getting broken up a bit better than they were.

Hour wait on healer? Even for the 8 man duns, that sounds off.

-you can select all languages for faster queues (as long as you don't mind not being able to talk with some parties)
- timezone.. Are you queueing during peak hours, or in the lull for your data center?

I had this long waiting times, don't know why. On Tuesday I finished the ARR Story (thanks to 2 weeks vacation I could regenerate from the exhausting main scenario grind) and started leveling an AST, I am 37 right now and I quite enjoy it. Thanks for the leveling suggestions, leveled by dungeons to 37 but now I am no longer refreshed...
