Are healers lazy or do some really live by "I only heal"?

Most likely, when they tried to DPS and let their tank die, they got chewed out (most likely, ironically, with something like "wtf you're a healer, your job is to heal, not dps!"), so they stopped doing it.

Some folks aren't as good at multitasking as others. If it's not something where healer DPS output really matters for success, I'd just let it go.

When I was a beginner healer I tried the whole stance dance well epic fail the tank died everyone yelled and vote kicked me I think I was harder on myself then they were..lol before I got really comfortable with healing I wouldn't dare touch cleric stance....

Now a days I'm dpsing more then I probably should but I'm healing twice the dmg the tank is taking so honesty only do what you are comfortable with...but if dps are taking dmg keep dpsing lmao some dps tend to self inflict their own problems these days

Healer role is the "HEAL"(or buff too if AST) so for me healer that not doing anything except heal and buff are ok, if they manage to get there group to complete the run without wipe. ANYTHING more than heal or buff will be bonus that I never ever expected from healer only bad healer is the one that cannot keep the party to complete the run

I'm pretty sure that this game design the dps check for dps to do there job without include healer to help dps.

So, PLEASE expect dps to do there job instate of expect healer to dps!!

People who play healers who never dps should play the single player Final Fantasies again. Do you get your WHMs to stand around and do nothing in party in a single player Final Fantasy? Or do you get your WHMs to do some sort of damage while there is not healing to do?

In every single player Final Fantasy EVERY healer does dps.

As a CNJ, some of our quests requires us to DPS, this is true, but the BULK of it is to make sure the NPCs stay alive or it's a fail. Try finishing the quest without healing the Great Tree.

It's the otherway around. Some of our job quests require us to Healing, but the bulk of it is DPS. The only two quests where healing is really vital (up to level 50) is Trial by Water (Crazed Deer one) and the Heart of the Forest (Great Tree), of those you can just stoneskin+Refresh on the Tree and DPS most of the time. The Trial by Water doesn't really require that you heal either, it just helps if you do (you can just throw one or two heals out while focusing on DPS). All others they either heal themselves, have more than enough HP to offset the incoming damage, or your contributed DPS is plenty enough to down a foe far faster than it can kill anything.

Once you get into the HW WHM quests you do focus more on healing, but by this point in time you should have learned that you need to DPS as well and be comfortable in switching between the two roles when necessary.

In fact, if I recall correctly the entire point of the CNJ class quests is to teach you that it's OK, even necessary that you do damage on top of healing, or has Sylphie taught you nothing?

I can honestly say that out of the hundreds of dungeons, trials and raids I've done on my various characters, the tanks who were in them royally bitched at the healers if they DPSed in a good 90% of those runs.

I've never, ever witnessed this. Of course, I'm often the healer in these situations, and no one has had the balls to ask me not to DPS when I'm clearly doing my job correctly.

That's funny. My experience has been opposite.

Healers should throw out some dps once they are comfortable with the dungeons. I can understand not dpsing if the healer is not very familiar with the fights, but once they are, they should help.
