Never really seen anyone in game take a principled stand "Healers should not DPS". Some don't feel confident. Some like me might just be tired and zoned out. etc. DPSing doesn't get comms either so there's no extra motivation besides cutting a few minutes off the run.
Yeah I was gonna say, I actually get more commendations if I coddle everyone's health bars vs if I let them dip a bit in order to get off some dps. At least in DF.

If I notice our dps are slow or low geared and I'm pretty confident my tank can go without being babysat, I'll switch over and dps just to pass checks and move things along. At least throw on my dots, cast a quick holy and run away to heal again. On 2nd fractal boss I'll open tubes and take down the add myself just so dps don't need to drop over to it but I'll admit to not being very focused on dps as a healer. I find WHM dps dull so it doesn't even do much to relieve boredom for me. It might make a run a few minutes faster but I've had a few too many close calls where I went to turn off cleric, it didn't seem to work, I hit it again and suddenly it flickers on and off really fast and leaves me stuck in it again. The switch over feels clunky to me as a WHM. Not sure if anyone else is the same.
