Two things on DRG in experts: Elusive jump is on such a long CD that you don't really want to blow it to ditch trash back on the tank, since you certainly have enough HP (just over 13k with tank in group) to facetank one trash mob while the tank gets around to you. Relatedly, as a DRG you have more than enough HP to suck up 111 tonze swing and dive right back in, which isn't nice to see as a healer but it's dps calculus. 7k damage for swing, which you can get back with bloodbath/life surge, versus having to abort a buffed attack run (or lose blood of the dragon) because of swing...

Also, as tank, I always encourage healers to dps if they feel comfortable. Not going to complain if they choose to healbot instead, that's their jollies I guess, but I know some healers get bored if they don't get to ride the razor's edge with cleric's on big pulls.

You shouldnt be needing elusive during a boss fight in ex unless you have a bottom geared tank and an overgeared DRG. The only time they should be getting hate is if they do something dumb like aggro the wrong trash mob. Also not once have I seen a DRG use a jump as a gap closer in an ex, the exception being when I do it. But thats because I love jumping around as DRG. I'll even go as far as using elusive just to dodge and jump back if I know I won't be needing it for aggro dump. Btw, the third who managed to get hit was a blm, which shouldn't happen. And the tank kept getting hit by 11 tonze as well and getting knocked around.

From my experience, I panic if I try to DPS and the Tank goes from 12k Hp to under half in a literal second. Usually ending up spam healing. But I am not a Main healer. Still pushing buttons and hoping it's relevant to the situation.

It's just being lazy, For all you know they could be munching on a sandwich while watching your health. I pretty much have to dps if tanks aren't taking large amounts of damage or i will seriously fall asleep, Not that Healers are boring, it's the dungeons that i'm sick of.

i just hate the stance dance... cleric on, switching bars, switching target, dps, cleric off, switching bars, switching target, heal....

i really love healing but i hate to play two different roles at the same time. why do i have to work twice as hard with my whm than with my dragoon? but i think you win: i am SO sick of the whole healer dps debatte that i will just stop healing. no fun anymore -.-

Personally if I don't do some DPS while healing I'll get so bored that my healing will suffer, too.

Usually the only times I don't DPS is if I'm new to healing the dungeon (I mostly do dungeons first on my main but even then I like to take a run or two to get my bearings in a different role) or if the first couple pulls someone keeps dropping so low it's not worth it for me to DPS. I've been in the mood where it's like "I can't be bothered to DPS" but even then I usually stop and throw a few dots on the boss, or something.

Like personally IDK how some people not heal anything and just stand there (I'm talking more like level synched ilvl200 in NM Sastasha kind of standing there, not like EX roulette). I would just constantly be napping. Everyone would die because I fell asleep due to boredom.

    edit:
Oh, but even if it bothers me they just stand there the most I'll say is "..." because, well, as long as the party isn't dead I don't care what they do. I mean sure I'll probably complain to myself or friends but as long as the healer is healing then. Do whatever.

Tanks: Your main job is to keep aggro and maintain it. If you wanna push some more DPS out, more power to ya, just don't get too fancy and lose aggro.
Healer: Your main job is keeping your party alive. If everyone's okay on health, and you wanna push out some more DPS, more power to ya. Just don't let anyone die when you're too busy DPS'ing in Cleric Stance.
    DPS: You have ONE job.

As long as you are fulfilling your main role, whether that be keeping aggro or keeping everyone healed, I really don't care if you wanna push out some DPS, just don't wipe the group because you forgot your main role.

I think every job has the possibility to aid in other areas if absolutely needed (yes I know DPS should primarily, well, DPS. XD but there are occasions where minor healing and raising from say, summoner, and the occasional sleep from BLM may save a team from wiping. Yeah I mainly play caster so those are my examples. XD)

In most cases, healers "just healing" is perfectly acceptable, however, that does not mean that player is playing their job to the fullest. There are fights in the game that have some pretty significant dps checks, and if the dps are rocking min Ilvl, a healer might be needed for that extra dps.

This game focuses on a TEAM effort and when a player blames everyone else around him/her because they had to "act outside their class role" that player is only focused on covering their own butt and not the over all success of the team.

I say, judge what you should do by what is happening in your current situation and don't hold so tight to class roles.

that being said, it is perfectly plausible to complete most objectives while holding true to the base formula, but is that really fun?

i don't mind pushing some dps if they are really needed. my job as a healer is to bring the team alive through the fights. if i have to dps to reach that goal i will do that. but some people expect a healer should stay in cleric more than they actually are healing. and even the game says i should stop healing... the tanks get even LESS damage than back in 2.0 it seems... all the tanks wearing dps gear and they still get no damage... even in ex primal fights....

i really hate paladin for not taking any damage xD i want to HEAL, not dps... if i want to dps i switch to another class -.-

I can understand that. XD I mean you do choose the class you play for a reason after all. My point mainly targets those entering end game raids and primals and the what not as most of those basically require at least some DPS from healers. Even then, though, healers should primarily focus on healing over DPS. I want to run a healer soon, but I won't lie, I am sort of afraid to. lol There seems to be a ton of pressure on healers and I feel for them.
