Machinist: Aetherotransformer doesn't change appearance with weapons

I had posted this in the in-game bugs because I felt it was something that they literally ignored when making the machinist job. Wanted to see feedback.

    ---Original Post---

I'm not entirely sure what's going on, but the Aetherotransformer (the ammo box on Machinist hip) does not change appearance along with the gun. Not sure if this is just a lazy effort on SE part or it's intended to be that way. Bards quiver change when they switch bows. The same also applies to an Astrologian with their card decks.

I don't understand why it can't change appearances based on the gun that is equipped. Right now the fact that it stays the same is somewhat boring. Machinist feels like a rushed job and most if not all the animations are a bit boring. Even some of the gun models look horrible.

There is no reason it shouldn't change appearance like the Bards or Astrologians or any other job. It just seems lazy to me that this was completely ignored.

I would like for this to be the case. Bards get matching quivers for their bows, and our lunch box is the same no matter the weapon. It'd be nice to be different for ones like relic or primal weapons

It's lazy but is consistent with the amount of effort they put into MCH: little to none.

At least they change color if you dye the weapon. Except often, native black is darker than dyed black.

I agree this stinks, but good luck getting them to change it now.

Flesh grows weak. Steel becomes brittle. But the will is indomitable.

I can kind of understand why it doesn't change. Unlike bows, which are an old and archaic weapons, guns are much newer, and the Aetherotransformer is newer still. It's basically a box that house our tools: gauss attachments, special ammo, turrets, the triggers for Peloton, Tactician, Palisade, and Refresh, etc. Moreover it seems to be a box that is pretty much made in Ishgard for machinists of the Skysteel Manufactory. Those aren't tools you're going to find some random mook from Garlemald carrying around.

Should they change dependant on the weapon? I certainly think so, MCH need more than just numbers love. But there is a logic behind this.

While I agree, when you think deeper, you realize : No bow need a special funky quiver with specific arrows. Technically, every arrow you shoot is untied to the bow you use, as they are shafts with heads and plummage. If special arrows are a thing, they are far from beeing bow specific, let's not speak about the fancy quiver.

By that logic very few of the MCH weapon drops make sense. I always figured we got the original lunchbox from Steph and from that point on improve it ourself. I see no reason why my character wouldn't be able to tinker with the box to work better with whatever weapon they are wielding, resulting in a different look for the box.

But in the end I would doubt SE cares much about the lore in that regard. They just show an amazing lazyness when it comes to MCH.
