I'm not sure this really saves much money, then, after all. But it could be nice to do before a long raid night in a progression group or something. Still interesting to know, thanks.
Well think about it this way then. That same 10% durability item, take it to a vendor, he repairs it to 100%. He improves it by 90%. Repair it yourself, it improves to 110%. You improve it by 100%. Now, take that same gear that is basically barely damaged, say 95%. Repair it yourself, and it is now 195%. You can basically repair your gear about half the time, plus the bonus of being able to repair in the middle of dungeon runs.
