Basic 1.19 tips for thoose struggling

Figured I'd post a quick list to maybe calm down all the complaints posts thats been around now.

    Soloing

    • Gear loptimal evel matters more then ever pay attention to it, running around in templars/buccaners at rank 30 will basicly have you naked stat wise.
    • Aim for mobs around your level, you'd want to fight "even match" mobs that are max three levels above and minimum your lvl to chain them for quick good exp.
    • Play smart and pay attention, mobs do more damage you do less, use your abilites wisely.

    Party
    • Exp while in party is now based individualy, both for chains and exp itself, so if you are level 30 fighting lvl 32-33 mob with a level 35 friend you will get exp chains of them while your friend wont.
    • You can now leave/join party while in combat.

    Battle Leves
    • Same as soloing mobs in the open leves are now even match based on your level, if solo 1-2 star depending on your skill and/or what mobs you will face.
    • You can now chain mobs and get link bonus while fighting the mobs in a leve.
    Gear
    • Your old gear is not "useless" Dated gear is still good to go, while newer crafted gear will be better in most cases but you can still use your old gear fine(make sure your close or above optimal rank since this has a bigger impact then ever).
    • Dated gear that you eventualy will replace is a great way to get materia farmed.

    • Untradeable gear can't be made into materia or have materia attached too it.

Hope this helped at least a little bit to ease the frustration for thoose who have had a hard time to adept in this patch, but thats the key here; adapt.

Solo play is just as potent as before (in some cases even better) for exp, you just can't blindy rush into fights anymore.

Pre patch soloing a mob +5-10(depending on mob type) levels used to be balanced for solo play, now its mobs your level or +3 thats balanced for it, and exp wise you get more exp per even match mob now then you used to get for a mob 10 lvls higher before patch.

Thanks for reading and have fun in the new patch =)

My tips: Always rebuff if your buff wear off, because of longer fight we tend to forget rebuff when mob near killed which resulted more damage/more defense from them, and we just keep thinking "little more, little more!!"

    especially for GLA.

Nice tips, and I wholehearted agree with this one: more than ever GLA life depends in its buffs and rebuffing, if you're playing solo, pay close attention when your buffs begin to expire.

Hah, this thread ought to be moved to the GLA forum...

Yup. At low levels, Protect and Shell are hard to beat - don't take up many action slots and last a long time. It also doesn't take long to get to r10 in jobs like MRD for Defender.

I recommend getting 4-5 jobs to r10ish before even trying to get any job to 20.

Learn what tp moves you can dodge by moving and which you have to out range, also be aware of any position triggered attacks. This is a bit advanced and requires you to pay attention but mobs also have animation tells for there really nasty moves. Once you can mentally connect the tell animation's and the moves there connected to its possible to save your self a lot of hurt. (that is if you act quick enough and the server is playing nice)

An addition, as someone pointed out in another thread - go after mobs that are "squishy". Some mobs are just more annoying to kill than others. Stuff like coblyns and marmots, for example, are easier to deal with than spriggan collectors and chigoes (using examples of mobs found just outside the Uldah rank 1 camp). Since mobs nowadays give roughly the same sp, there is little reason to go after the harder mobs unless it's for a guildleve or if you're farming them for materials.

Spellcasters - (please correct me if I'm wrong on this one) - unless you have a shield, stay out of active mode. Stay in passive mode and sit still - you'll be able to cast while regenerating mp, even offensive spells and self-buffing skills. This will help with your MP regeneration.

Don't be afraid to ask for help. Use the /shout command in town and politely ask for help. There *are* nice people out there that can help you out with gear or gil. Don't be discouraged if you ask for help one day and you don't get responses. Try another time of day or another day. I know as humans we have a tendency to automatically assume that if something doesn't work for us on our first try, it's automatically that way and it will never change, but don't give up if you can't get help.
