Making Class Guilds Relevant Again: Class Dailies

This was born s a Reddit conversation that gathered a bit of traction and I wanted to throw the idea out here and see if it gathered any attention. I'm also not entirely sure this is in the right place, and I apologize if it isn't.

Classes are, more or less, seen as the tutorial for how a job is played, and once the soul crystal is obtained the class is discarded. And when that happens, the guild you worked for for the first thirty levels is basically forgotten. What we came up with in this discussion was another kind of daily quest, not unlike Beast Tribe dailies or GC supply and provisioning missions.

Class Dailies would be given by either a Guildmaster or Guild Receptionist st some point after the Level 30 quest. Since each Guild has an area of service to their community the variety of quests already exists: Mealvaan's Gate would do daily quests involving smugglers or processing inventory, while Arrzaneth Ossuary would involve work with quelling undeath or preparing funerary rites.

Also, like Beast Tribe quests, the main rewards for building up a career of service to a guild would be primarily vanity items. Guild-related gear for glamours, minions, furniture and so on.

The idea is born out of two related desires. First, to reconnect with these characters who were such a big part of our early days in the game like Sylphie or K'lyhia. Second, to reconnect these parts of Erozea with characters. I still pop in on Maelvaan's Gate from time to time and wish dearly that there was some hustle and bustle there, because that's a meaningful place in the game world for me.

Although your idea is interesting, personally I think you've gotten confused about the actual role the class Guilds play - they're not employment agencies for that class (that's what the Adventurer's Guild is for), but think of them more as a school for that class. You join them as a freshman (level 1), and you work your way up the levels, rather like grades, undertaking quests which teach you about the class and how to use them effectively in battle, essentially education in that class.

Once you reach level 30 and complete the final class for the Guild, you've basically 'graduated' from them, and proceed to the 'higher education' in the form of a Job. The Guildmasters even tell you that there is nothing more that they can teach you and that you have to find your way yourself.

So yeah, although I understand where you're coming from, there is a reason why the Guilds seem to disappear into obscurity after you gain a Job - you've basically graduated from them and that they have nothing more to give you.

But they have duties other than just training you, and those duties are fantastic ways to keep you engaged. Mealvaan's Gate, for instance, doesn't just train Arcanists but also is the customs agency for Limsa. The Adventurer's Guild hooks you up with them like a temp agency and once they train you, you leave. But there still are smugglers and lost cargo to handle.

Sounds like a nice idea, plus I would like to meet a few npc again that were part of the class quests

This is a great idea! I'm looking forward to the new Beast Tribe daily quests, but as awesome as those have been I think I would enjoy other kinds of factions more than Beast Tribes at this point. We need some variety.

It's also been more than a year since any new Daily quests were added and I would love to see them implemented at a better rate so we always have some kind of reputation to work toward. As it stands, its been a year since I bothered with dailies since my reputation with all the tribes has been capped.

Seems like a good idea, could be a way to also implement quests for each class, to try to teach them the core mechanics of their role.

I would love to bust out the old stabbers and go on a good old pirate hunt with the rouge's guild again.

Be like the Assassin Contracts in Assassin's Creed, the Fixer Contracts in Watch Dogs, or Skyrim's Dark Brotherhood quest lines.

Maybe a small pay out or a share of the Guild's spoils. (And maybe a finger sandwich or two? Seems like they never have enough to share with me. T_T)

I would do anything for V'kebbe from the Rogue's Guild. I think this would be a cool addition (and it might also be a way to leverage the unused Musketeer's guild in Limsa Lominsa as well).
