I bought this game and played it for the first time 2 weeks ago. I've been on every day since (loving it!), and just experienced the patch. As you can see, I'm a level 20ish archer and marauder. I've played a few hours since the patch hit, and I'm completely disappointed. I wasn't even attacking mobs much higher than me before the patch, but occasionally I'd hit something 1 or 2 levels above and I'd make it through alive. Now, I get my ass kicked by mobs 2 levels below me and anything higher it's hopeless. All my hand picked gear (mostly by helpful players) isn't helping at all and the game just generally seems way HARDER. Harder than it should be..it just kills the pacing. Sorry, but I play video games for fun, not to be bored and frustrated. I was pretty happy right before the patch with the level speed, combat flow and yeah, I died now and then when I did something stupid, but now the game seems excessively hard. So all you high-level people with lots of experience, I'm glad you are having fun, but I'm going to go play Aion now. I suspect a lot of other new people like me feel the same way. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with this patch at all...it just simply made the game no-fun for me as a new player around my level. I've been severely nerfed playing other MMOs too, and it just kills the fun for me when that happens. It's like someone took away half of everything you've been building up and working hard at. Normally, that is called a punishment.

And yes, I've done nothing but group with other new players since the patch. We get our asses kicked constantly, even when 3 of us gang up on a mob 2 levels above us. Both of my friends logged out with a long goodbye and quit, both claiming they might be back after 1.20, but probably not with GW2 and SWTOR coming out. So there I was alone, at level 20 with crappy gear and nobody to play with surrounded by monsters that I can't kill. Yuck. I guess there is a form of permadeath now in this game after all, in the form of this pretty digital purgatory I found myself standing in.
Well today i lvl up a marauder until lvl 9 and i loved the game as it is , it is a real chalenging game something that it wasnt before sometimes in the groups you didn't have the chance to hit the foe because it was already dead in 5 sec

i don't know what kind of player you are but also many friends that left this game for Rift they came back because i told them to check the 1.19 and everyone said that the game its for the first time challenging ...

well i dont know what SE is gonna do but i hope that he will keep the challenge even at the first lvl 1

you said that you liked the game as it was before really you are mmo player and you liked to solo mob 3-10 lvl more than you >.>

let me tell you something for example

if you can kill solo a dodo 19 lvl and you are 10 ...what is gonna be if you try it with a group in a leve ?

do you know how many times it was so boring to kill something in 10-30 sec with a group ... that's not challenge you don't feel the feeling of ''death'' you don't even try to have a tactical strategical battle

i don't want you to leve really we need more new players ...but also i don't want this game to be like 1.18 it wasn't challenge it was super easy >

if i was here all this time it was i believed that the game everyday goes forward ...and you asked to go backward ...

There's a large elephant in the room that people seem to be ignoring. It's not necessarily the difficulty that's the problem here.

It's the ability to form parties.

Why are we soloing even though the mobs are more difficult, and we get more exp in a party? Because getting a party together outside a linkshell is a righteous pain in the ass. Shouting, shouting, and more shouting. And since shouting can only be heard in one specific area, there's no guarantee that you'll reach the people that would actually want to party with you. For all you know they're probably out soloing. I mean who'd want to wait in Ul'dah for someone else to start shouting?

And NOBODY checks the party search feature. And even if they did, they'd have to be very specific in their searching or a result won't show. That coupled with no global searching and no party invite flags leave many of us without a linkshell or high level job stranded. Just try to form a level 15 party for Shposhae. Go on, try it.

you have right but don't forget that the game is in revamp mode everyday they are trying to fix things so we must wait everyone that coming to FFXIV must know that he is gonna a play a ''beta'' game, a game that is in revamp mode ...so if he find a good Linkshell to join i m sure that he will find a lot of other players to group ...like me

do You think that SE doesn't know about the party search system ?

    everyone needs something
more armors more jobs better battle system ...more mobs ...mailing system ...AH etc

they allready know it (many post in the lodestone and in the live at 4 oct ) we must also know that is in revamp state they already know what we don't like ...they work for us and they are trying to keep us here...but also they are humans....not robots ...if we want we can't find a way to play with others if we can't then lets find another game until the game is like the way we want

the players of ffxiv has two options ...they are staying and play the game with every patch ( htey give time to devs ) ...or they know that the game is not ready for them and before feel bored ,they are leaving for another game until the FFXIV is ready if after long time they don't care anymore about ffxiv then actually never care about it and never understood really that the game was in revamp mode ...

thats the truth for us and for the Devs
