Leveling has changed, there is a difference between not finding the way to do it and just give up because old methods are no longer used (i.e. can't rush mobs anymore, can't kill mobs way above you, XP gains have changed, etc...everything the way it was supposed to be intended since the moment this crappy game came out).
As there is a way to do everything, not too many new players are fond of a game where you have to party from the very beginning. FFXI allowed you to reach at least lvl 15 before you had to go to the dunes and level there. This game requires much more exp to level, so overall it will take much longer to reach next level.

in what part of the FFXI timeline could you solo "effective" to 15? this may be semantics but i remember the cap for effective solo leveling being like 11-12.

I'm of course talking about the old heydays of XI.

You always could... at least the whole time after NA release worms in Ronfaure or Gustaberg, and when you got close to 10 you could do worms in the highlands and then you could do worms, bats, goblins in shakrami. Did that on several jobs way back when. All you needed was a bit of selbina milk and some good old fashioned 'not suck'.

I said effectively solo, and if you think that was effective you obviously never got into a Korroloka Tunnel JP worm leveling group which was better then valkrum exp parties.

It was possible to solo it just was not practical compared to groups once you hit 11-12.

If you DON'T think that was 'effective' solo, you never tried it. I often leveled faster than dunes parties myself. And of course it's not as good as a good party, are you retarded?
Sometimes people don't have time to organize a party or just feel like grinding it out solo for a bit, it was possible to level and do so at a decent rate without having to organize anything, how exactly is that not effective? Because it's not the absolute best? Please.

Effective and most effective are not the same thing, and hell... due to the nature of the game at the time often you would be able to be more effective soloing by virtue of the fact that you didn't have to wait nor did you have to worry about getting bad players who could slow you down far more than anything. Remember those parties back in the day where you came out with negative exp because your party sucked more than a Thread Leech? I sure do.

For your information there is a difference between possible and effective but you seem to not grasp common logic sorry.

No I never had a hard time getting a party or playing with incompetent players, i had a good LS... try making friends it would pry help you out. I specified I was speaking of the beginning of XI where i never had a problem finding parties English or Japanese. Could you grind off of other mobs yeah was it effective no.. effective leveling was partying and if you were social enough or playing in the beginning you should have had no problems. However you sound like a person who is pretensions and non social.

    Ignorant post is ignorant.

Yes, your post IS ignorant. Ignorant to how the game worked back in the day, having friends or not having friends had absolutely nothing to do with having the occasional bad dunes party. Why do you think Valkurm Dunes had the negative stigma it had for years, because no one on any server had friends? Ignorance, son. Just stop talking about FFXI, you clearly don't know much about it.

the base sp ga9ined for attacking monsters is now based on your total next level. You wont spend as long at higher levels as you did pre patch, they simply balanced the game curve
