Even a massive patch like 1.19 only had mentions like "Chocobos are finally coming" on pretty much everywhere that is not massively.com. Or this.
I have been considering doing a Youtube channel for a while, based around the first 60 minutes of games. Basically it's going to be for comparing new games of a select genre, to the current market leading games of the same genre, so in this case, I would place FFXIV side-by-side in real time with World of Warcraft, and compare the 2 as they progress through the first 60 minutes of gameplay (obviously cut down a little but I do have unlimited time on my Youtube vids as I created it on Youtubes launch, which means it still is under the original terms of having no limit on video length).

For example keeping tallies of what the game has told you to do, shown you, taught you, what you have seen, number of unique monsters encountered in this time, areas you have been ushered into, quest variance, and other bits of random stuff. So it would be "20 minutes in, and WoW has shown me 4 unique quest archetypes, Final Fantasy XIV has shown me 2, but I did get a more comprehensive tutorial to this point in FF than I have in WoW, and we have seen wolves, kobolds, spiders and zombies in WoW, and Marmots, Funguar, Opo-Opo's, Crabs, Spriggans, Moles etc in FFXIV.

Would also plan on scoring each element and giving them a total at the end, based on raw experience.

Think it would be interesting to see how the 2 compare within this key time period, as this is when a player would more than likely make a lot of decisions towards their like or disliking of a game.

Do you guys think this would be interesting or a total waste of time

FFXIV was originally designed to allow you to grow vertically from 1-50 with any class on your own time ,solo or party. Now FFXIV will only allow you to remain on 1 class 1-50 through party play. Getting through solo play requires you to work on yourself in a horizontal fashion grinding multiple jobs at once and unlocking spells such as cure & sacrifice for your melee classes. Single classing requires full time banding pretty much at this point.

After level 23, I found that I got EXP so much faster after this patch.

Parties with guys at my level in Nanawa, leves + leve bonus, links and EXP chains, my God, I feel like playing this game again. I might actually take it to 50!~

    Easier game? No thanks.

I personally love a good challenge.

Not to sound inhuman or impartial to the OPs plight but it's no ones fault but their own if you give up.

There are threads crying about how easy the game is now, exp is broke n too easy, i hate this, i hate that.

So everyone has a different opinion, but thats all they are is opinions.

Dont give up so easily, lets see what Yoshi does.

Weather your a New player now, or a New player back at Launch the problem remains the same: Complaining

    1) Launch of Game= People complained of Earning Sp due to hitting the mob for a chance at sp, mobs easy to kill. ( I didn't like it ) *Understandable*
    2) About 4-6 months in the game= Gain SP according to a Particular mob and has a Set base exp rate ( meh were getting there but still needs work), Mobs still easy to kill
    3) Now we have Chain/Link Bonus, Mobs harder to kill and Sp ranges a Difficultly of Mob/rank ( I love this the way it is right now).

What do all of these have in common?

You guessed it they were all in result to Complaining. Don't get me Wrong Complaining is fine when it sees fit. But for all that is good, Keep changing the way things are because a few (new people) on the forums are kinda being lazy in all honesty, just really boggles my mind!

Threads like this Result in this saying and this saying alone:

Nothing is EVER EVER EVER good enough for everyone! So with that said I give you my Elezen hugs, and if you ever need any help in Besaid I be more than happy to help and give you my insights on low leveling leveling =).

Ok so I haven't tried the lower levels since patch, but if its decent rate / challenge once you get some cure spells etc, then maybe they could also incorporate a tutorial spirt or something. Think Navi from Zelda- kinda helped guide you through. Maybe in this game its a little spirit moogle that pops up (you could of course disable it) and gives you tips.

Also probably needs some tweaking too though and as mentioned Materia gear will help.

To expand on the idea, the spirit moogle could not only give tips based on death, but also based on you acheiving a certain level or gap between your gear level and rank.

"Kupo! Looks like it may be time for a new sword! Why not head on over to the XYZ vendor in Gridania and buy one. I have marked it on your map here! (Map opens up)."

Could be diffficult to implement from programming perspective I dunno

I know Priston Tale has / had a system exactly like that. Helped a lot when I stared, god knows how many years ago...

This is a brilliant idea! I'm sure it has been suggested in some form in the past but with them releasing the tutorial now it may be a good time to let this idea be heard. Random moogle tips for various things that may be new to a player? You can't go wrong with that. Anything to keep new players informed is a good thing and will keep them around longer.
