I have encountered only a few hostiles in my time but most people here seem decent, even with the WoW influx. I *LIVE* in Duty Finder. I almost never do things with my FC. The place where the crowd is most hostile is Alexander but even there people usually sort things out within a bit of grumbling, or they leave.

Usually nobody says anything at all. Often they are pleasant if they do. If someone is a jerk someone else calls them on it.

If it's gotten bad I haven't noticed. The only reason I can think of is no new content has come out for a bit now, most folks are in farming mode, and folks in farming mode are usually in a hurry to just get everything over and done with, others be darned. That might change when 3.1 hits. We'll see.

I've started a one warning policy and if they do it again I just say "cool you're the tank now" and sit down till they die. Has about a 50/50 rate either they rage out and quit or let me control the pulls.

Just had a lovely example yesterday of rude players.

Me (healer) and 2 dps friends queue for an ex roulette. We get in and it started with the tank not even saying hi (in any kind of language) while all of us did. Well, we go on and struggle because of his bad tanking. We make it to the 2nd boss (fractal btw) and he obviously panics with the swings, running all-over and making the fight a PITA.

No one had criticized him yet despite his bad tanking (running around like crazy, not holding aggro etc.). I take heart and tell him that there is no need to panic. He then comes out and says the first words in the whole run:

    "STFU and play"

Ok, alright...we continue to tell him how to do better (they fight was a drag and after 3 opened baits, the boss was only at 57% because of him running around like a chicken constantly. DPS were a mnk and drg, so lots of positionals, no ranged damage really) but his vocabulary boils down to: "learn to stfu".

At some point we had enough, wiped the fight and kicked him. His lovely partying words were "just f*** you all".

We got a new tank, all went smoothly after.

Really, sometimes I think people need an attitude check before they should be allowed in this game. This was still a mild example but if it happens almost daily, it wears you down.

Lately I got really lucky with pugs, only few were the kind of mentioned ones.

The one that made me laugh the hardest was:
"You should really watch a guide, before attemping this another time. Best go youtube and watch Mr. Happy's Guide"
    - Cutter's Cry. The one dps didn't lure the purple sphere far away enough and both of us got hit once or twice by an attack. No one died, except Chimaera of course.

But there are others as well. In Toto-Rak with 3 pugs the other two players explained to our tank how to pull and hold aggro. Before those explanations he facepulled everything and started his single-target rotation. After explaining shield lob and flash to him he was like 200% more effective and quite thankful for the advice. He even apologised for forgetting to use this "new rotation" sometimes.

Recently, I've been levelling up my PLD. My bf and I queued up for a dungeon and got an archer and a sch. It was copperbell mines. Throughout the dungeon, the arc keeps pulling mobs for me even I asked her not to, until the last boss, I said "A little advice from me: please learn how to be a team player and please don't pull mobs before tank does." The sch rebuffed and I pull the boss, a few secs later, the sch who was quiet for the whole time suddenly said "Brb". The arc just stood there and did nothing. Of course we wiped. And the conversation went like:
    Archer: "#teamwork"
    Scholar: "back"
Archer: "now it's our turn then?"
Me: "Fine, if you want to be a tank. I will let you two do it"
    Scholar: "Alright, then"

And it took them a while to beat the boss. Of course it's possible to do it with heals+fairy. After the boss was beaten, the arc started hash tagging AGAIN!! #teamwork #blahblahblah UGRHHH!!! The sch and the arc was obviously together.
Perfect timing for AFK, nice try.

Not to be "that guy" but here's my 2 gil: I do my research. I watch videos and read strategies for dungeons/boss battles. I also research the job I'm playing so that I'm using my skill optimally. It is NOT, I'll repeat that "NOT" my responsibility to give a strat breakdown before each boss just because 'you' are to lazy to do your own research. Don't want it spoiled, go set up party finder and find like minded individuals. If you queue up with Duty Finder expect the dungeon to be ran swiftly and efficiently with little deviation. Most times, there is a unspoken (at least for myself and many others) a 3 strikes rule. Wipe 3 times, and I'm leaving even if we are at the last boss.

As for cutscenes, this deserves repeating: You are holding up 3-7 other players with it. You are holding them hostage till 'you' say they can play or if we can keep going while you watch them (here's looking at you Praetorium) don't get mad when you finish and find you've missed 2 bosses, and the one being fought has only got like 25% of it's hp left. Skip them, and watch them later at the Inn as every single cutscene can be viewed from there. Again, if you want the immersion of watching them as they unfold, use party finder and find like minded individuals.

I don't research dungeons at all (I reserve that for actually hard content, like EX Primals), but I pick up from what I see. My first time in Gubal Library, no one told me how to deal with the bosses, so I learned from how the other players handled mechanics. First boss, I saw people run behind the book, so I ran with them. Second boss... well, that's mostly tank and spank, kill adds. Final boss, though, they actually said what I needed to do and that was that.

Only bad experience I can vividly recall is a SMN never using Deathflare and a PLD telling me (BLM) to not use AoE's in Neverreap (they rage quit when they realised that the NIN and Healer didn't back them up). Not my fault the PLD didn't want to use Flash... I even used Quelling Strikes and took hate with Fire IV :T

My favourite recently was in cutters cry, we get to first boss

Adds spawns healer stands still, I say run your suppose to kite

Healer replies, nope not while I'm here.

We manage to scrape the kill alot harder than it needed to be.

Healer proceeds to call us stupid dps the whole run, she managed to kill her tank friend numerous times with her awful healing.

Myself and the ninja just laughed it off as the tank healer only had 1 60 each so relatively new.

We exit the dungeon and who's standing next to me in the highlands? The healer.... She continues her toxic behaviour, to the blist you go!
