I'd side with the Garleans--JUST to aid in the other nations' destruction-- like Ala Mhigo... because, if my guy can't have a homeland, or have his people be treated like they are a part of the nations, then to hell with the other nations.

You do realise that Raubahn was an Ala Mhigan refugee originally and now he is one of the six most powerful people in Ul'dah.
Ul'dah accepts people but tends to demand that show themselves as contributing and integrating. Its all about material worth. Its both horrible because it can treat victims of hardships as dirt but at the same time does mean that racial and gender tend to be less of a issue.
I'm not completely convinced on the order and peace the Garleans bring. Sure there is peace and order right up till the current ruler dies. At which point you can easily have the whole empire thrown into conflict, kind of like they just had. Garlemald wasn't invading anyone because they were having an internal war of succession. For all the losses of freedom and oppression the Garleans bring I'm not sure its a great trade off.
